American semiconductor company Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD) along with Chinese Internet giant Baidu ( BIDU) announced on Monday a collaborative agreement to "optimize" software for AMD's Radeon Instinct GPUs in Baidu's data centers.
"Together, AMD and Baidu will leverage the two companies' world-class technology and software engineering capabilities to create a comprehensive and open ecosystem to address the growing demand for data center workloads and provide more intelligent human-computer interaction," said Forrest Norrod, senior VP, and general manager, Enterprise, Embedded and Semi-Custom, AMD.
AMD's Radeon Instinct, a line of deep learning oriented GPUs, combine hardware and open-source software that AMD hopes will make its GPU accelerators more broadly adopted in machine intelligence.
Shares of AMD and Baidu were moving lower during Monday morning trading.
