In terms of armor protection and firepower,the Indian Centurions Mk IXs were better than Pakistani M 48 Pattons due to their 160 mm of slopped frontal armor and a 105mm high velocity guns compared to 100mm armor of Patton and their 90 mm guns.But the Pattons had much better sighting systems and better mobility due to their more advanced suspension systems.

And that's not all.Indian Army had only 4 Centurion regiments totalling the number at 188 pieces where as the Pakistanis had more that 400 Patton tanks when the hostility began.

As per the official Indian history,only 40 or so tanks,mostly the outdated Shermans were destroyed where as a further 30-35 tanks were hit but recovered and put into action after repairs.Do not go by wikipedia all the time bro

1965 official Indian history is pretty bonkers. I quoted neutral sources. Wiki states 120.
