Altay & Turkish Main Battle Tank Programs

Well although the economy is not great World Bank & Co still expect the economy to grow modestly by 2% or so.

And compared to other projects the tanks are dirt cheap. There is no way that Altay will not be ordered. They might lower the numbers or strech it out over a longer time but 1000 Altays it will be.

but as every project like tanks/jets/heli if you don't export it, it could lead to failure. that's a fact, and it's not cheap, you have to take in consideration R&D, investment, workers, factories. 1000altay it's nothing. All of that for only that number it's not a good thing.

Not necessarily, Number of tanks proceed by France, UK or Italia is less than 1000 for their latest tanks. Since Tanks aren't as expensive as fighter jets, It wouldn't create Financial problem for Turkey.

not for turkey, but for the project

Number of leopards on fiel - 1000
Number of leopards run by Germany - 100

The numbers are just odd but what i mean is that, european countries do not supply big amount of armies for some reasons but they produce and sell their products

Five Turkish companies placed their upgrade bids on Jan. 23. The local bidders are: military electronics specialist Aselsan, Turkey’s biggest defense company; missile-maker Roketsan; and armored vehicles manufacturers BMC, Otokar and FNSS. Aselsan and Roketsan are state-controlled companies; BMC, Otokar and FNSS are privately owned.

Some industry sources were surprised by bids from a military electronics specialist and a missile maker. “Normally these companies should have been subsystem producers,” said one source.
