Vegetables are locally produced and govt should impose a high tax on imported stuff especially vegetables & fruits that are or can be produced inside Pakistan. It will create an incentive for the local farmers
This is what I am saying …… we are not making things at home..... Jut look at "Dall and cooking oil " 3 fukin billion $$$$ and we are agriculture country...
We do import chees, vegetables and fruits, dryfruits too. Doesn’t mean we dont produce those vegetables, we do. But different areas have different timings for a single vegetable/fruit. Like the tomato we grow in Mansehra and in lower areas have some 2 months gap. Thats why when a vegetable passes through its peak days in Pakistan, then we import it. The issue is that we lack facilities to preserve them in peak season , we lack cold storages. 2 months ago tomato were 80-100 Rs/kg , some 10-15 days ago the price was 20/kg and 30 for 2 kg. Now it is again 30. And gradually increasing. But if we had the facilities, and stored the excessive production which is wasted, we won’t need to import. This is one issue, 2nd issue is lack of vision, tomatos (i am saying it alot) is used in tens of new products, corn us used to make 50+ Value added items in US and throughout the world. Same is for all vegetables and fruits. But we would waste them of sell it for peanuts instead of multiplying the profit by 5x and 10x...
In addition to fresh tomatoes, we get packaged and canned food especially tomatoes like this brand which is natural tomato preserved in a natural preservative. You get in two forms, (1) tomato paste (2) chopped or crushed with tomato pieces. Similarly, most of the food stuff is available in multiple forms i.e. fresh, frozen, canned, packed and dried. Most of the fruits like apricots, plums, figs, dates, berries, mango, coconut, pineapple etc are available dried and even in dried there are categories, sun-dried, machine-dried.
Even in our kitchen, we have a dehydrator.
I have those in Atlanta and Stockholm and most of such appliances my our homes in Pakistan are also brought by us from here (abroad)..but I think those should be available in Pakistan as well though dehydrator as not that popular even in the west and only very few kitchen have them.Do you know any Pakistani manufacturer of these dehydration equipment?
Pakistan imports tomatoes from Iran and India.

Self sufficiency is the way forward in these times of trade wars and water theft.
Start a made in Pakistan policy
Aik local coke company hai Hani Cola copy of coca cola unka slogan hai
Pakistani mashrobat piyo Pakistani ban Kar jiyo government ko bhi aisa slogan invent karna chahiye
What's your point? Just to argue and waste people's time? This is not some high tech equipment that needs be imported. And it falls under luxury as well.
You cannot simplify Pakistani problems to one household or a few.
Canned food is not suitable for consumption in Pakistan. Pakistanis however in any case do prefer eating fresh and eat according to season something not practiced in Europe or North America.
