What kind of news is this? Why would you shut down Air India after spending 100,000 crores over the last 15 years to keep it alive?Aviation Industry is still kicking so why not privatize it? Privatising it might improve its service.

Everyone is saying privatize it. But does one realise the problem of privatization?

1 Airline has 1000's of crore loss on its books. Which private player willlike to take it. Already Kingfisher has shut down and Spice jet is almost on verge of shutting down. It will be difficult for a pvt. playerr to sustain it.

2 Even if we get a pvt player to run it there will be huge allegations that modi is favouring particular industrial houses. Atatas already have two airlines. Such a kind of money can be given by Reliance , Birlas or Adanis. Anyone comes people will say modi sold out to them

3 Air India has one of the highest manpower per aircraft ratio. It is seriously overstaffed by people whose attitude is of a govt babu. No Pvt. player will like such a staff on its roles. There will be mass sacking and this will raise the hecles of the leftists

4 The Babus and ministers are used to free trips on the airline. no pvt. player will be able to afford it. If they dont give freebies then these same Babus and Ministers will create problems for them. Why will any Pvt. player take such problems

All in all it is good to shut it down if no private player is coming forward to take it up.
