Air China magazine warns London visitors to avoid ethnic minority areas

Just point out the names of suburbs where traveling alone is dangerous. For example, it is not advisable to walk in the downtown of any American city at night, no need to point out who live there.

nothing wrong with the tourist company wanting to protect their Chinese customers. My GPS allow me to avoid bad areas.
Not all bad areas are dominated by dark skin people, There are bad areas with white people

of course. Not sure what the fuss is about. Tourist companies can lose a lot of business even with one tourist get robbed. Chinese have money so obviously priority one for people with money.
Exactly. It is become daily news that rich Chinese tourists are robbed, passport stolen. Chinese government must issue travel warning to certain regions of the West to protect tourists abroad. More importantly, Chinese tourists should be informed that traveling abroad is not like in China where women walking alone at night is safe.

I've heard that Chinese policemen are also patrolling in Italy to make Chinesw tourists safe. If western countries want to attract more tourists, pls ensure their cities safe!

Whichever way you look at it, it is a racist comment. But I guess in oriental culture, it is OK to be suspicious by generalizing. I have worked in a Korean behemoth. Many of my friends also worked in chinese, japanese companies. And we all had a common opinion - they do not trust people of other nationalities at all, and have a strong opinion for all south asians. But they do not even realize that. It is like, they are tuned for it culturally.

Don't get me wrong. I am not saying they are racist. I am saying that they don't even know that some of the things that they do or say, can be racially offending to others.

India is fast climbing the list of undesirable places for international women travellers.

It is little wonder then that the US, the UK, Canada and Australia have issued travel advisories to their citizens alerting them to what has come to be known as the “rape epidemic” in the country.

This month, Japan reiterated its warnings to female citizens travelling to India, after two rape allegations by Japanese nationals. On Feb. 8, a tourist in Jaipur said a man claiming to be a tour guide raped her while dropping her off to her guesthouse. In November 2014, six men from Kolkata allegedly kidnapped, robbed and raped a Japanese woman in Bodh Gaya, Bihar.

After newspapers reported the Bodh Gaya incident, government-backed travel agencies in Japan and China advised women against all non-essential travel to India. One agent told India Today, “If you are female, even as a group, we advise you not to travel to India unless absolutely necessary.” After Jaipur rape came to light, the Japanese consulate in Kolkata reiterated the warning, advising tourists in India to “be careful and behave cautiously.”

IS this racist advice to our dear "Holy thou" Indian friends as well?:meeting:

Good try, but it is not racist. It had been a racist advisory if they had said "avoid muslim dominated areas in India" or something like that. If you call out one or more communities among a mix of many and paint them as culprits, it is racist. Saying be cautious in India is similar to saying use contraceptives while having s*x - an advisory without singling out any particular race, faith or religion.

To me, it's not racist at all.
There is nothing wrong to issue a warning based on facts, for the sake of safety!

Probably yes. East Asians are less aware of such racial sensitivity on general. I once saw a boy pointed at a white women, saying "why do you have such monkey-like long hair on your forearm when you are not a man?".

I lived there for more than a decade, its like my second hometown, I know it inside out````

I even worked as part-time sales in Hackney (dominantly Pakistanis and Indian) for few years during my uni, to be honest, the area is not decent, but not dangerous as it is believed to be.

but the dangerous areas are where packed with chavs with all kinds, and south London, namely 'black area'````I still remember once I went there by bus to see one of my friends, around 22:00 PM, as soon as I step-off the deck, there was one old lady went to me advised me to leave this area```I was like ```:o:

you're 100% right, We always look down others, especially in CHINA's 5000 years history, we believe that we are nature born superior! it's some kind of Chinese culture ! Nowadays become to bad jokes or pet phrase.

However, people in here should clearly see the difference between Say it and Do it.

We are calling Indian as " An Cha, Ar Shan ", White as " White skin P!g ", black people as " N!g".

BUT, We Treat People From Pakistan As Our Iron Brothers!!!

South London is no-go-zone?
Like other no-go-zones in Paris?

Well i wouldn't take his comment all too seriously, he may have some opinion about Chinese but it doesn't mean it's true. Me and my pals work for Western companies and we see all whites bashing Chinese, Turks, Blacks, Indians left to right.

Totally unacceptable. Being one of major airlines in China, Air China should be more sensitive.
Agree.
They should not talk like in China, oh, don't go to Queens in New York where black people are dangerous or don't go to Mexican border where Hispanic are murderers. They should speak "internationally".

No way, although Chinese historical books are filled with the racism, specially against the nomad and tropical dark natives, political correctness don't allow books or newspapers mentioned these content publicly nowadays. I disagree with you, but impossible we edit our ancient books, it is too hard a job.
