"Neither humanity nor our religion has given man any authority to mistreat women," he says.
This love story from across the border is wonderful and moving and contains a powerful message to husbands everywhere. The story has already been shared by over 11,000 people across the world since it was posted on the Humans of Pakistan Facebook page on Thursday.
"Our marriage lasted for 27 years and 2 months," says this grieving Pakistani man, pictured sitting on a wooden bench, wearing a skull cap. His wife, was sick and died despite the doctor's best efforts. "I did not realize it while we were together but my whole world fell apart when she passed away," he says and his words are enough to break anyone's heart.
They never fought or had arguments. "I loved her so much," he says.
If you're already in tears, what he says next will fill up your heart - "Neither humanity nor our religion has given man any authority to mistreat women."
He backs this by mentioning teachings from the Holy Quran and sayings of the Prophet. "It is said in the Holy Quran that men are the caretakers and protectors of their families. Prophet (PBUH) also said that if a woman is earning and she spends that on her children, that's her charity for her children. If she feeds her children, she can ask her husband to pay her for the task of raising the child," he shares on Facebook, asking "so on what level do men believe that they are superior to women and can mistreat them?"
This is his advice for all husbands out there. "Make her feel like a queen today, while you can," he says.
You have to read his entire message yourself to feel his pain and cherish what you have. And remember to never take your loved ones for granted.
