CHANDIGARH: Following the removal of product 'India Flag Doormat' from Amazon Canada's website, another product having picture of Lord Ganesha on skateboard has emerged that too on Amazon India's Website. A Chandigarh-based advocate, on Wednesday, has written to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh seeking removal of product and an apology.
In his email to the home minister, advocate Ajay Jagga has also requested to get an FIR lodged, if needed. "If the needful is not done, lodge FIR against under Section 295 of the IPC against Amazon India for hurting the sentiments of people," he said.In his email he said, "Union Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj has recently got a product India Flag Doormat removed from Amazon Canada, but shockingly, Amazon India is doing even the worst.
"The online ecommerce/shopping portal of Amazon India is intentionally insulting the Indian people by selling a product that is a Sport Equipment named "Santa cruz skateboards" with picture of Lord Ganesha (also known as Ganapati and Vinayaka) on it. This sport equipment is used by using feet on it and it moves with the movement of foot, as such having picture of LORD GANESHA on it is virtually an offence under Section 295 of the Indian Penal Code."
The website address http://www.amazon.in/Santa-Cruz-Ska...1484719491&sr=8-1&keywords=skate+board+ganesh has also been given along.
I have requested for immediate action and an apology be sought, products be removed and if necessary an FIR be lodged," Ajay Jagga told TOI.
