Saudi has been the biggest funder of Salafi outfits inside Pakistan. Including LeT and TTP itself. India and US joined the party but later.

Here in London UK, there are very large numbers of Pakistanis and Afghans intermarrying with 0 fuss. There are more Punjabi and Mirpuri Pakistanis marrying Afghans then there are Pathan Pakistanis doing the same.

In US they are mostly from Kabul or Northern Afghanistan, very few Pukhtoons from outside Kabul. They are mostly secular, drink beer, eat pork, party in night clubs,, and marry Non-Muslims. Very few go to masajid. They are same like Iranians here.

I once went in Tabligh and met one Parsiwan Afghan, he was learning Islam mainly from Indians. Funny thing is that we were both wearing the same style red cap when we met, so I thought he was Pakistani initially.

A met a few foreign students from Afghanistan who came to our masjid once, I showed them around town. They were Pukhto speaking. That was the only time I remember seeing religious Afghans in the US.

Pashtuns aren't just ak47s btw. Not only are you wholly underestimating the Pakistani nation but you're becoming dependent on this ethnic trope.

I don't normally answer Indians on threads relating to Afghan-Pakistan relations, but you are a respectful and decent poster so I will share my thoughts.

Punjabi of Pakistan is very different than Sikh Punjabi. Our language shares more in common with Sindhi, Hindko, Seraiki, Pahari, and Pukhto. Even I have a difficult time understanding Sikhs, I have to listen very carefully. The sentence structure and word usage is very different.

This sounds plausible. Of course I know next to nothing about those dialects.

We have so much in common with Pukhtoons and Afghans, our culture is basically the same as them and our other neighboring provinces. Intermarriages are increasing at an exponential rate. People are adopting Hindko and Pukhto in Punjab, and Punjabi is becoming more prevalent in KPK, Balochistan, etc. All very good.

I get it, you're one big happy family consisting of the Pak side Punjabis and Pukhtoons. But maybe it's your worldview and experiences. As you said your family members are married into Pukhtoons. I have met Pakistanis who would agree more with LadyUK's views. Maybe there are two camps on this one.

Look I get having views that no one else believes in. Many Indians here don't believe my views either.

As for Afghans, yes, everyone can have different experiences, and Afghans on general are more racist towards Indians than Pakistanis (due to historical reasons.)

When I mean "Afghans" I really mean the modern day ones. I have spent a lot of time in Europe, and those are mostly Afghan refugees. Many are of Tadjik or other non-Pushtoon groups as well (I can't tell teh difference, an Afghan is an Afghan). They were all confidence tricksters and low level thieves.

I wouldn't mistake say, a Shahid Afridi, for one of them. Someone like him is more agreeable to me. That's the difference I was talking about.

I am a big admirer of jirga justice, we have it even in villages in Punjab, and it works wonders. If the state could bring it back on a national level, it would solve our broken judicial system.

Isn't it like a kangaroo court? Anyway in India they have similar "justice systems" for example, Khap panchayats in Haryana. Modern legal system exists for a reason. I don't want my lawyer friends to go out of business.

I have many good experiences with Afghans on a personal level in Pakistan, so I cannot discount them.

However my views aren't that unique. You missed our friend @paktoon_yum who shared exactly the same views I had.

If you get a chance, watch some of the more religious political commentators like Orya Maqbool Jan and Dr. Shahid Masood.

Now this is where things get really interesting. If you look at the founding fathers of Pakistan.

Allama Iqbal made no secret of his desire to see revival of our old Islamic culture and our ties to Central Asia, Turks, Afghans, etc. He described Afghanistan as the heart of Asia.

Ch. Rehmat Ali based the concept of Pakistan on Pukhtoons and Baloch tribes. He even envisioned a future merger with Afghanistan, and Pakistan's major role in Central Asia. A view echoed by Uzbeks and other Turkics who want to see an Islamization role for Pakistan in Central Asia.

Dr. Israr Ahmad envisioned the exact same thing. Hadith of Ghazwa e Hind talks about army of Khurasaan, which was the name of Afghan-Pakistan region before Islam and in the middle ages.

I'll check them out for sure.

All the Pakistanis I currently know are very moderate. You seem more religious than them as the commentators you named also have that kind of a reputation.

But I am someone who LOVES free speech, and different opinions. I think fundamentalists get a bad name. People should hear even them out properly.

As I once said, I don't mind grabbing a selfie with Mr. Hafiz Saeed. I keep an open mind as long as I am not physically threatened.

However to be honest. It will be too early to consider you a friend. Perhaps if you can moderate your religious views a bit which are too extreme even for me, but I do believe you are a nice person. And I am optimistic that we can meet someday.

p.s. - These are just my thoughts based on our online interactions. Don't take them too literally. However, at the end of the day, I'm a sunny liberal with an inherent dislike for religion, authority figures, and extremism of any variety. As you live in USA, you would know that viewpoint very well. In other words, I may not be your type. And I am really sad to say that. You have been extremely good to me on this forum.

Afghanistan initially did trouble you - agreed. Just look at india and China, even after a war and frequent clashes neither wants other nation to break apart or die. This should mean something. You can't keep on hating for ever

Taliban creation part, was done by usa at that time to fight another devil, but you kept on nourishing a monster. Look at your north west regions. Still Pakistan supports them only

With so many Afghans living in Pakistan, Afghanistan being so reliant on Pakistan and the large number of intermarriages between Pakistanis and Afghans, within 50-100 years there will definitely be some sort of merger between parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan or some sort of loose federation at the very least.
