The government of Afghanistan on Wednesday announced support to military intervention by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Yemen.

The Presidential Palace media office said the situation of Yemen was discussed during the National Security Council (NSC) meeting.

A statement by the Palace said the government and people of Afghanistan have deep religious and historical ties with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed support to Saudi Kingdom and people against any threat.

Saudi Arabia launched airstrikes against the Houthi rebels in Yemen early Thursday, one day after the Yemeni president Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi was driven out of the country.

Houthis began their offensive in September, seizing the capital, Sanaa, and later holding embattled President Abd-Rabbo Mansour Hadi under house arrest.

According to reports dozens of civilians have been killed in the Saudi-led coalition’s air assault.

There are also reports of heavy clashes between Houthi fighters and armed men supporting Hadi in the southern port city of Aden.

The supapowa has spoken. All hail Afghanistan.
That's not the point, this can have geopolitical ramifications for the region. If the Saudis can turn Afghanistan against Iran, this may give Pakistan a clearing to send support for KSA without having to worry too much about any increase in cross border attacks from the Afghan border.

This statement by them is hot air.

Iran does what it wants in Afghanistan and so do other foreign elements like India etc. Its a playground.

What needs to happen is Iran reaching out to Pakistan and asking to work things out in return for neutrality. Thats a fair deal for both.

Perhaps, it's a wait and see moment.

Even Iran is now supporting Saudi airstrikes
