ABVP, RSS activists assault Muslim Principal for wearing shoes while hoisting national flag
August 17, 2017, 8:06 AM IST Hyderabad, Top Stories 25
Hyderabad: Hindutva activists, ABVP and RSS workers assaulted the Muslim Principal of a Govt. junior college when he refused to take off his shoes while hoisting the national flag on the Independence Day saying that there is no such rule. This incident occurred at Govt. Junior College, Ailapur village of Nizamabad district.
Saffron activists dragged the Principal, Mr. Yakeenuddin to the road and started shouting slogans, “Principal down down” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”. Chairman of the Cooperative Society made an attempt to intervene to resolve the issue but the activists refused to listen to him. The protest continued for half an hour. They demanded the suspension of the Principal.
It may be noted that PM Modi hoisted the flag at Red Fort by wearing the shoes and BJP President Mr. Amit Shah also hoisted the flag at party office wearing the shoes. There is no such rule to remove the shoes while hoisting the flag. It was only a pretext to humiliate a Muslim Principal.
After the video of the incident became viral on social media, delegations of Jamat-e-Islami, Minorities Cell of Congress, CPI, CPM, MBT, Jamiat-ul-Ulema and the members of other parties made protests and submitted memoranda to District Collector.
A mass rally was taken out from Nehru Park to Collectorate and presented the protest note.
Surprisingly, police took Abdul Qadir Sajid, President of MBT of the district, Sanaullah and Azharudinuddin into custody and shifted them to the police station.

However, MBT President, Mr. Sajid contacted the Commissioner of Police who assured that action would be taken.
A press conference was held at Press Club to protest against the assault by Saffron activists.
Mr. Yakeenuddin lodged a complaint at Nandipet Police Station alleging that ABVP activists dragged him by holding the collar of his shirt and forced him to say “Jai Sri Ram”. Police registered a case under section 290, 332 and 153 (A) of IPC.
Mr. Amjadullah Khan Khalid, MBT leader sent a letter to CM, Mr. KCR and complained that during the incident, police and the staff of the college remained silent spectators.
It may be noted that Mr. Yakeenuddin was associated with Teachers’ Union. Recently, he was transferred from Kamareddy Junior College. He was very popular among the students. On his transfer, Hindu students had presented a model of “Kaaba” to him.
