Hyderabad: Hindutva activists, ABVP and RSS workers assaulted the Muslim Principal of a Govt. junior college when he refused to take off his shoes while hoisting the national flag on the Independence Day saying that there is no such rule. This incident occurred at Govt. Junior College, Ailapur village of Nizamabad district.

Saffron activists dragged the Principal, Mr. Yakeenuddin to the road and started shouting slogans, “Principal down down” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”. Chairman of the Cooperative Society made an attempt to intervene to resolve the issue but the activists refused to listen to him. The protest continued for half an hour. They demanded the suspension of the Principal.

It may be noted that PM Modi hoisted the flag at Red Fort by wearing the shoes and BJP President Mr. Amit Shah also hoisted the flag at party office wearing the shoes. There is no such rule to remove the shoes while hoisting the flag. It was only a pretext to humiliate a Muslim Principal.

After the video of the incident became viral on social media, delegations of Jamat-e-Islami, Minorities Cell of Congress, CPI, CPM, MBT, Jamiat-ul-Ulema and the members of other parties made protests and submitted memoranda to District Collector.

A mass rally was taken out from Nehru Park to Collectorate and presented the protest note.

Surprisingly, police took Abdul Qadir Sajid, President of MBT of the district, Sanaullah and Azharudinuddin into custody and shifted them to the police station.

However, MBT President, Mr. Sajid contacted the Commissioner of Police who assured that action would be taken.

A press conference was held at Press Club to protest against the assault by Saffron activists.

Mr. Yakeenuddin lodged a complaint at Nandipet Police Station alleging that ABVP activists dragged him by holding the collar of his shirt and forced him to say “Jai Sri Ram”. Police registered a case under section 290, 332 and 153 (A) of IPC.

Mr. Amjadullah Khan Khalid, MBT leader sent a letter to CM, Mr. KCR and complained that during the incident, police and the staff of the college remained silent spectators.

It may be noted that Mr. Yakeenuddin was associated with Teachers’ Union. Recently, he was transferred from Kamareddy Junior College. He was very popular among the students. On his transfer, Hindu students had presented a model of “Kaaba” to him.

when "one" doesn't have anything constructive to do, they need to timepass by doing all this. moreover, more the idiotism in the act, more are the chances of going up the hierarchy.
I hope my post doesn't attract "bhakto ki kataar"

coming to the topic : I have decided from now on to go to cinema halls with slippers only, strictly no shoes (especially those with laces). who knows where these nutjobs are roaming.

Cong. panel wanted saffron flag for free India: Malkani

KOZHIKODE NOV. 28. The Lieutenant Governor of Pondicherry, K.R. Malkani, today claimed that a committee appointed by the Congress in 1931 had recommended that the colour of the flag of independent India should be saffron.

Inaugurating a national seminar on ``early resistance to the British rule with reference to Pazhassi Raja'', Mr. Malkani said it was a committee consisting of eminent nationalists such as Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel, which made the recommendation.

How come saffron colour now evoked protests from some quarters?, he wondered.

The `flag committee', in its report to the party leadership, recommended that the national flag should be saffron in colour with a blue ``chakra'' on top, and had justified its choice of colour saying saffron was non-communal and had deep affiliations with Indian culture and traditions.
"We do not know why this report was dumped,'' Mr. Malkani said.
