If they wanted to ruin their lives that bad there are better ways to do it, then to live with a abusive, manipulative and impulsive man.

Sadly it's the stupid culture...

First is that there is pressure to marry...especially on girls. It's for some reason considered a bad thing for a girl who doesn't get married in her 20s at most...and the society considers that "something must be wrong with her"...and it becomes a matter of "izzat" for her and her family.

Secondly...and this is one of the biggest issues that causes fights, divorces, abuse, and even killings...it is the whole dowry expectation...
...not even an expectation...it has become a requirement.

So parents and the girl feel pressured to marry her off...and if they are poor...dowry requirement becomes a burden. In some cases they take loans and ruin themselves financially...in other cases they settle for even a dimwit lowlife guy.

One of my father's friends here in US is Indian. He was telling a story about one of their distant relatives...that distant relative was not getting "rishtas"(marriage proposals) for his daughter bcuz they couldn't afford to pay a dowry(after having married two daughters before). I asked why don't they look for a guy who isn't all hung up on dowry. His reply was bcuz it is considered bad for the parents of a girl to propose(something along those lines). IMO such traditions and customs are stupid and harmful for society...they belong in the middle ages and should be left behind. Dowry especially needs to be banned by law.

No idea which hellhole you live in but where i live , i don't find a girl who is not married without her choice. Maybe in past but i don't find them anymore.

FYI 90% are arrange marriages and dowry are girls share of parents property which they should get and not all property belong to boys you get that amigo?

80 percent poor live in our land , girls from these families are not fortunate to chose husband by her choice .poor families generally have more children so their is hardly any spare money to give dowry .

Instead the focus should be on protecting Indian women, both Hindu and Muslim, from Hindu rapists as things are going out of control.

No, they are genuinely happy that Modi Ji and BJP are working to improve their lives. Instant talaq was a big problem for them.

They could also be Shia, most of them support BJP anyway.
