Pakistan's military establishment underestimates its own power if it totally aligned with the Religious Right and didn't just use them for short term goals, but really truly made a strategic political partnership the days of Sharif and Bhutto would be over for good. Imagine the entire class of Ulama and their students, the entire network of madaris and masajid in Pakistan were totally on board with the military establishment, we could crush the old populist and dynastic politics for good. Political stability would be achieved.
