LHC questions election campaign in Gilgit-Baltistan
A DIVISION bench of the Lahore High Court, while hearing the appeals against the delay in the by-election in Punjab on Tuesday, took notice of the massive election campaign in Gilgit-Baltistan despite the governmentís warning regarding unfavourable law and order situation in the country for any such activity.
Three intra-court appeals were filed by Awami Muslim League Chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, Muhammad Azhar Siddique and Manzoor Ali Gillani and were heard by the bench, comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan.
Khawaja Haris advocate started the dayís proceedings with his arguments on behalf of the Punjab government. During the arguments, Justice Ijaz Ahsan questioned Mr Haris that if the law and order situation was so unsuitable how all the main political leaders of the country felt comfortable during the election meetings in Gilgit-Baltistan. The counsel of provincial government was stumped at this inquiry and could not give any substantial answer. Nevertheless, he said those areas had not been hit by any terror attack in the recent past. He submitted that the Election Commission of Pakistan should have granted an ample opportunity of hearing to the government before issuing the election schedule.
A single bench, comprising Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on October 9 while accepting Punjab governmentís plea, had postponed by-elections in Punjab on the ground that the chief election commissioner had not given opportunity of hearing to the provincial government.
The hearing was adjourned till Wednesday (today).

This is a great question for PML-N and the Punjab govt. - How come NS and PML-N is able to compaign in Gilgit-Baltistan when at the same time they have requested the postponment of bby-elections in Punjab?
I think by-elections will only take place once Saudi King gives Sharif family to take part in elections -
