A district in Turkey named after Indian freedom fighter

He wasn't indian though .. Had he been alive today he would have gone mad I've somebody calling him that...

Few days back I was watching this british documentary about Muslim troops from Pak.. "Muslim tommies"... I read that apart from from revolt and executions in Singapore. Our troops also refused to fight fellow muslim Turks in Mesopotamia .. Some Lancers regiment ... And asked to be depicted at other fronts.

Similiar case in Indonesia where on Jinnahs call 1000 troops revolted and the Indonesians against the colonials.... Only a few came back alive .. The Indonesian PM later awarded them for their sacrifices.

why, did I say anything wrong ?

these were revolutionaries/heroes before the partition, and would not have wanted it... we should not sully their memory by bringing the infantile nationalism that came later.

which is also why i asked desert fighter about bhagat singh above in this page.

If Kashmiri freedom fighters can be terrorists, why not they ?

wonderful.. i didn't know of this.

while revolutionaries from other cultures ( like lenin, che guevara ) have had roads and other artifacts named after them, it has been rare for south asian revolutionaries... this is a proud moment, but it is also saddening that this fact was not known for so long.
What can you expect in a country where some halfwits proclaim persons like Savarkar a freedom fighter & declare Bhagat Singh as terrorist.

it must be indeed rare for a socialist and the deoband mullah school to collaborate.
One thing I like about ghadar party that it has members from all three religions Hindu,Sikh & Muslims. Several fans of Ghadar Party in Punjab are commemorating 100 years of Ghadar uprising this year.
During 1967 elections Teja Singh Sutantar was elected from Sangroor constituency which has largest number of muslim voters in Punjab. Although he was respected among poor people of every religion due to his work in abolishing zamidari (landlord) system.

wow... the "ghadar party" revolutionaries had global reach.
Yes "ghadar party" revolutionaries had good number of sympathizers in Afghanistan, Turkey & USSR.

If Kashmiri freedom fighters can be terrorists, why not they ?
There is a difference. Your Kashmiri freedom fighters are fighting for promoting a particular religion in a state on the other hand Indian revolutionaries were fighting for freedom of humans belonging to all religions.

Kashmiri freedom fighters are also fighting for freedom of Kashmir from India

you have a point. @jamahir

i will answer in slightly similar terms to what @Juggernautjatt said in post# 26.

these "freedom fighters" really have long abandoned the kashmir cause and have turned into reactionaries no different than qaeda or taliban or ikhwaan ( mb )... they have not presented any solution which will bring lasting peace to south asia... they have not even looked at muammar gaddafi's solution which, i must emphasize, was reiterated in the uno general assembly in 2009 and immediately celebrated by kashmiri civilians.

google for aasyia andrabi... should she be the model for kashmiri ladies, let alone any lady??

please watch this film, "harud", made by a kashmiri and speaking of the dilemma of kashmiris... the film is quite neutral on the background politics...
