9×19mm Parabellum (from latin Si vis pacem, para bellum) or 9mm NATO
This round entered service with the German Empire in 1904 and is still in service around the world feeding many handguns and sub machine guns and still going strong. It is facing competition from the newer armor piercing handgun ammunition but they have yet to be adopted widely.
Is their any other cartridge that has been in service so long and so popular ?
One can argue that the most used cartridge in the world is the Russian 7.62 x 39mm which was introduced in 1943. But we will have to wait till 2043 for that
