QUETTA:
In the first incident of its nature, Quetta police arrested two Frontier Corps personnel and five others for kidnapping for ransom, police officials said.
Addressing a news conference, DIG-Operations Hamid Shakil said the police intercepted a suspicious vehicle on a tip-off and recovered arms and ammunition.
Police found service cards of the officials in the vehicle. The men, identified as Mohammad Yasin and Mohammad Iqbal, possessed a wireless set of police frequency.
When we approached the FC, they assured to extend their cooperation with the police and said action will be taken against the officials, said Shakil.
The arrested men are members of a major criminal gang operating for kidnappings for ransom in different parts of the province, he added.
Kidnappings for ransom have increased in the province, with Hindu traders being a major target.
