Palace Museum tickets sold out within 2 hours of opening

The second day of China's national holiday sees tickets to the Palace Muesum sell out within 2 hours of opening.
Only last Thursday did the Palace Museum, or the Forbidden City, open up more areas to the public.
The Museum has 20,000 entry tickets available per day, and combined with the Chinese holidays, the rush to see the unexplored sections of the Palace Musuem saw tickets sell out within 2 hours on Sunday.
The Palace Museum is the world's most visited museum. According to China Daily, in 2014 the museum recorded over 15 million visitors, followed by the Louvre in Paris with over 9 million visitors.
Crowds of visitors to tourist attractions is not uncommon during holidays in China. Altogether 104 million people visited tourist attractions around the country on Sunday, according to figures released by China National Tourism Administration (CNTA).
