Five Kerala priests from the Malankara Orthodox Church (MOC) were suspended on Saturday, after an audio clip containing serious allegations of sexual assault and abuse of clerical power did the rounds on social media.

In the clip, a man alleges that his wife was assaulted by a priest before their marriage.


When she confessed to another priest, the man says, he blackmailed her into having sex with him, and threatened to tell her husband if she didn't.



He then sent a picture of himself with the woman to a third priest, who sexually assaulted her, the husband says.

A spokesperson for the MOC said the five priests were suspended pending an enquiry.

The man heard making the allegations in the audio clip hasn't yet filed a police complaint.

He says in the clip that he sent his wife back to her house, and that her family was trying to file a complaint against him.

He also says celebrities from the community have called to dissuade him from complaining.

They include Bombay Devdasi Act, 1934, Devdasi (Prevention of dedication) Madras Act, 1947, Karnataka Devdasi (Prohibition of dedication) Act, 1982, and Andhra Pradesh Devdasi (Prohibition of dedication) Act, 1988.[30] However, the tradition continues in certain regions of India, particularly the states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.[31]

That started as a dedicated servant corps in ancient times for Temple,later peoples did bastardized this for own purpose.
There is no mention of that is Transcripts of Hinduism.
You better not to drag others religion in every discussion,otherwise there are many ills of modern momineen which they would associate with our religion.

Lols when O.P post this thread which clearly mention abuse in church, religion automatically came in discussion..Check above posts of Indians who clearly saying that foreign religion brings ill practices to their country.

Yeah like sexual abuse does not happen in all religious groups? This happens in Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Sikh communities, there is no exception.
