1. The Man That Refused To Give The Nazi Salute, 1936
foundily-historic-1.jpg

The photo was taken at the launch of a German army vessel in 1936, during a ceremony that was attended by Adolf Hitler himself. Within the picture a lone man stood with arms crossed as hundreds of men and women around him held up their arms in salute and allegiance to the Nazi Party and its leader, Adolph Hitler. Everyone in attendance is showing their undying support for Der Fuhrer by throwing out their very best “Sieg Heil.” August Landmesser, grimacing with arms crossed, stood strong and defiant as he showed his disapproval by not displaying support for the Nazi Party. What made this photo and Landmesser’s defiance unique is that it represented the protest of one man, in its most sincere and pure form.
2. Nikola Tesla In His Laboratory, Sitting Behind His “Magnifying Transmitter”
foundily-historic-2.jpg

Nikola Tesla’s Magnifying Transmitter, at fifty-two feet in diameter, generated millions of volts of electricity and produced lightning bolts one-hundred-thirty feet long (forty-one metres).

One of Tesla’s experiments with the Magnifying Transmitter destroyed Colorado Springs Electric Company’s generator by back feeding the city’s power generators, and blacked out the city. The city had a backup generator and company officials denied Tesla further access to their feed if he did not repair the city’s primary generator at his own expense.

Tesla managed to transmit tens of thousands of watts of power without wires using the magnifier. He became the first man to create electrical effects on the scale of lightning.

Fast forward to today, Japanese scientists has successfully transmitted wireless energy through the air.

some of the pics convey n speak through visuals
Absolutely, as they say a picture is worth 1000 words.

Wow, such powerful pictures. Some of them moved me.
No. 39 is probably the most powerful of the lot. It not only depicts the anguish, pain and frustration of mother, but probably also tells the socio-economic environment during the Great Depression in 1930s (when i assume the pic was taken).

BTW any Elvis Fans on the forum?

.
Picture No 31 and 33 tell us the emotional devastation the war cause, it destroys childhood of children and there innocence too at very tender age

Sirji, are you talking of this image?

"Afghan Girl" Photo
Photograph by Steve McCurry

When he wandered into an Afghan refugee camp in Pakistan in December 1984, National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry captured one of the most famous portraits the world had ever seen. The Afghan girl with the haunting green eyes captivated everyone. That captivation proved, once again, the power of photography to open eyes—and hearts and minds—with a single image.

McCurry's portrait, which appeared on the cover of National Geographic in June 1985, was shot on Kodachrome film, a relationship that lasted for decades. In June 2009, Kodak announced it was retiring the film line and asked McCurry to shoot one of the last Kodachrome rolls. The photographs from that roll will be donated to the George Eastman House museum in Rochester, New York.
