Gritty driver brings ailing infant from Mangaluru to Bengaluru in 4.5 hours

Bengaluru, Feb 6: The KMCC ambulance, which left from Mangaluru to Bengaluru, hoping to save a 40-day-old infant from Mangaluru, suffering from heart-related ailment, reached Bengaluru’s Jayadeva Hospital. The ambulance started from Mangaluru at 12.05 pm and reached Jayadeva hospital in Bengaluru in the evening at 4.35 pm.

Haneef Balanja, who drove the infant from Father Muller’s Hospital, Mangaluru on Thursday to Bengaluru on zero traffic, hails from Guruvayanakere in Beltangady taluk.

Haneef, who works as Bengaluru KMCC ambulance driver, has earlier received best ambulance driver award from Kerala government road safety division.

The driver who drove the infant to Bengaluru in record time was accorded grand welcome by people at hospital premises.

Speaking to reporters later, Haneef expressed his gratitude to people who gave way for his ambulance.

Really nice to see that people are at least trying to give space to the ambulance and people even getting out of vehicles to try to make space. South India is indeed on a different level compared to North.
