J&K Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo says BSF opened fire when residents were protesting the entry of some personnel into a mosque with shoes.

Four civilians were killed and at least 10 others injured on Thursday when Border Security Force opened fire on a group of protesters in Gool area of Ramban district in Jammu.

Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, who was rushing to the spot along with DGP Ashok Prasad, confirmed the death of four persons. He said a large number of people have been injured and rushed to different hospitals.

Mr. Kichloo told The Hindu that BSF opened fire when the residents of a village were protesting against the entry of some BSF personnel into a mosque with shoes. The imam of the mosque and others also alleged desecration of the Quran at the hands of the personnel. Official sources said BSF opened fire when thousands of protesters attacked their camp.

Senior police officials from Jammu are also rushing to the spot in a hilly terrain in the middle of the Pir Panjal mountain range.

Police sources, who requested anonymity, say the Border Security Force personnel stormed into a Madrassah late Wednesday night where they beat up the cleric and tore pages of the holy Quran.

This has sparked off protest demonstrations at a number of places in the district.

Thousands of people have staged a sit in on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, blocking traffic.

The situation is said to be extremely tense.

The BSF authorities were not immediately available for comment.

Its all drama, They were rioters, BSF fired in self defense. BSF don't need vote they can't go easy on anti national activities... Just few week ago Islam-Pura (bangalore) resident (500 strong Mob) molested 2 animal right activists and beat up 7 people (one was policeperson).


This kind of Mob-violence must be handled tough,.... Well done BSF..

Note: If there religion was hurt, they would have filed a complain in local police officer, why they went for terrorizing BSF??

Rioters need punishment... If there religion was offended they could have filed a complain under IPC. What was the use of riot..

Similar incident happen in Bangalore recently: As Bangalore is ruled by Islamic Party the rioters were allowed to molest 2 christian girls (animal right activists), beat 7 Hindus (Animal right activists) and one Policeman (secular Assiatant Sub Inspector).

Tear gas, rubber bullet, Batons are tool of RPF and CRPF not BSF and Army.. BSF used what they had that time to save there life..

You people were saying there is disturbance in Kashmir only (due to Pakistani infiltrators & local separatists), so here is an example of crimes committed by Indian Occupational Forces in Jammu ... People demand freedom from India due to thousands of such incidents which have have occurred since 1947 in IOK .. Entire J&K needs freedom from the Indian Occupation ...

Indian soldiers did the same during the Chittisinghpura massacre of Sikhs & massacre of Hindus in Rajouri..

Indian forces shoot dead six protesters in Srinagar: Police

SRINAGAR: Indian paramilitary troops Thursday shot dead six people protesting outside a Border Security Force station in Kashmir, two police officers said.
The incident happened in Gool, 230 kilometres south of the main city of Srinagar, the officers said on condition of anonymity.
“It is mayhem. Six are dead and dozens injured. The death toll could rise further,” said one.
Protesters had gathered outside the Border Security Force (BSF) station to demonstrate against an incident involving troops at a mosque on Wednesday evening, witnesses said.
The troops had entered the mosque in Gool to complain about the loud recitation of prayers by worshippers during Ramadan, the witnesses told AFP.
Worshippers gathered outside the security force station from early Thursday to protest against the incident.
“The BSF soldiers fired indiscriminately, downing protesters left, right and centre,” one witness who declined to be identified told AFP by phone from the nearby village of Dharam.
