On Wednesday, September 30th, 1981, An Indian Airlines Boeing 737 plane carrying 111 passengers and a crew of six was hijacked by five knife-wielding Sikh terrorists who advocated of a separate Sikh homeland called Khalistan. They forced the pilot to fly to Lahore Pakistan. They released all but 45 passengers and demanded the release of their comrades back home while they refused to negotiate further.

As the negotiations fell through, the SSG’s counterterrorism specialist company 'Musa' (Named after the Prophet Moses) which was already on standby stormed the aircraft. Using a technique earlier used by the 4th Baloch regiment in an early hijacking response operation, they clandestinely infiltrated into the aircraft disguised as the ‘cleaning crew’. In a flawless climax the Musa operators after a brief fight pinned down and arrested all five terrorists, while all 45 remaining passengers exited unharmed. The Indian cabinet commended Pakistan for its response to the hijacking crisis.

Much appreciated....I remember my Uncle talking great things about the Professionalism of the the Pak armed forces..he encountered and interacted with during 1971..Even today he talks about the code of conduct that he feels is not there anymore...By the way he was a Brigadier when he retired in 2004(He was a LT.COL in the Army in 1971)....Thanks SSG!

And kiddo do u know the full story?? That Witch Indira Gandhi had demanded the territories we gained in Western theater of war like Chamb area, Runn of Kutch and Rajistan areas for exchange of POWs. And even U people still didnt send back everyone. A Few were kept by u. Like the grandfather of my recently deceased friend akash rabbani who escaped from prison camp in 80s and returned back on his own. Here is he!!!!!!!!

We have even put them behind bars all 5 of them since 1981 and were released and deported back only in 2000 when their life term sentence was expired. u did put the debt back by putting our citizens in jail for 6 months and even didnt informed our embassy in dehli before we rescued yr citizens in MV Suez saga 2010 and treated them with respect. Thats the difference b/w u and us.
