Srinagar: Three militants and an Indian trooper were killed in two separate ongoing operations at Mooldara and Tanghdar forests in frontier district of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Official Sources Srinagar based news gathering agency Global News Service (GNS) that two militants and a soldier were killed and two other soldiers injured in an ongoing operation at eagle post in Tanghdar sector. The operation was launched by the troops of 5/5 GR since last Monday following the inputs that fresh group of 5-6 militants successfully sneaked into this side.

The two injured soldiers were immediately airlifted to army’s 92 base hospital here in Srinagar for treatment.

In another similar incident, an unidentified militant was killed in an ongoing operation at Mooldara forest area of Rajwar in Handwara. The operation was launched last Tuesday by the troopers of 6 RR, 30RR, 32 RR, 21 RR, 9 PARA and SOG in many parts of Rajwar forests including Hafrada, Mooldara and its adjoining areas following the inputs about the presence of 4-5 militants in the dense forest areas.

General Officer Commanding (GOC) 28 Div, Lt Gen Lalit Panday while talking to GNS said that army has launched massive searches in many parts of the Kupwara forests following the recent rise in infiltrations from across the border.

He said that two militants were killed today in Tanghdar Sector. “One of our soldiers lost his life and two others were injured during the gunfight.”

He said that over 350 militants were waiting at the launching pads across the Line of Control to sneak into this side. The militants who are waiting in different launching pads include Machil, Keran, Tanghdar and Gurez Sectors. "We have specific information that around 375 militants are waiting just across the LoC to cross over to this side," GOC said “But we are ready and appropriate security measures are in place to foil any such attempt,” he added.

He said there is a high-level of alertness along the LoC in the wake of threat of infiltration.

Meanwhile, sources told GNS that army along with reinforcement have launched massive search operations across North Kashmir forests following fresh inputs that about 14-16 militants are present in these forest areas.

The militants according to sources have managed to sneak in to this side from last one month.

I think once we would have Rudra and LCH with Army then counter-insurgency would be alot easier and these militants will find no place to hide especially in Jungles and mountains. what say guys?? Your opinion?? @Dillinger @karan.1970 and other members.

The tide has already turned.. These terrorists' plan of attacking just the armed forces (to win over civilian population)has failed miserably since the troops are now more experienced and specially equipped for counter terrorism operations.

Expect a high impact attack(s) on civilians in next few weeks as a sign of frustration.

well I am not surprised!! Today we have about 70 thousands RR troops in almost 65 battalions which we lacked in 90s. I guess in 1995 only 5-6 battalions were formed and BSF was the key organisation for COIN operations but now we have one of the best forces in the world for COIN as RR.
