27% of Muslims are very militant: Donald Trump

.
How do you know about our political parties ? :o:

I have trouble telling Americans and Europeans whether Pakistan is in the Middle East or in South Asia and you even know about the PPP and the PML N !

Impressive ! :agree:
Thanks! 20 years of serving in dozens of countries around the world, lots of my own travel, a degree and interest in history, including Pakistan's history, and I've been posting here on PDF since 2009, so I've learned a few things about Pakistan. I've never actually been to Pakistan but I'd love to visit! :agree:

Donald Trump's policies are mostly left of centre. I actually really like his stance on Health care, especially his stance on forcing Drug companies to lower prices. He won my approval when he said He doesn't believe in people being left to die. Apart from his stance on Immigration and Muslims, this guy is a perfect candidate for the democrats.

I also agree with him that Muslims should be banned from entering the USA, right after the US is banned from entering Muslim countries. :sarcastic:

I don't get it. Islam was founded 1400 years ago. There was no America back then. Islam is not a person or country. Perhaps he could be more specific(?) And now he saying 27% of Muslims are militant? What is that?...Trump is not racist, he is misinformed.
Really? I'm pretty sure Trump's vision of "Islam" is close to that learned by America's Founding Fathers!

Soon after the United States declared its independence from the British Empire, the Barbary Pirates began preying on American ships and holding captured Americans for ransom. The U.S. sent a commission to ask why:

We took the liberty to make some enquiries concerning the ground of their pretensions to make war upon nations who had done them no injury, and observed that we considered all mankind as our friends who had done us no wrong, nor had given us any provocation.

The Ambassador [of Tripoli] answered us that it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise.

{Letter from the commissioners, John Adams & Thomas Jefferson, to John Jay, 28 March 1786}”

Thomas Jefferson, Letters of Thomas Jefferson
It's not taught in any U.S. History class I know of, but the continuing and repeated hostage situations were a big drain on the little federal budget and a great impetus for replacing the original Articles of Confederation with the much stronger U.S. Constitution. So empowered, then-President Thomas Jefferson sent the U.S. Navy and marines to Tripoli to teach the "pirates" a lesson. So did some of his successors. They didn't try to change Islam the religion but they did work with some success at changing Muslims' behavior. (The Barbaries were finally shut down by the occupying French - after repeated and somewhat successful efforts by the U.S. to subdue them.)
