25 million Pakistani children are out-of-school. Pakistan is ranked number two in this category

Pakistan is ranked number 1: More than six million Pakistani children of primary school age are not enrolled in a primary or a secondary school. Pakistan is ranked number one in this category; no other country on the face of the planet is worse off than Pakistan. Sudan, at number two, has three million.

Pakistan is ranked number 1: Close to four million female Pakistani children are out of school. Pakistan is ranked number one in this category; no other country on the face of the planet is worse off than Pakistan. Sudan, at number two, has 1.5 million.

Pakistan is ranked number 2: 25 million Pakistani children are out-of-school. Pakistan is ranked number two in this category. Nigeria is the only country on the face of the planet that has more out-of-school children than Pakistan.

Pakistan is ranked number 2: Pakistani girls enrolled in primary schools expressed as a percentage of total number of pupils in primary schools stands at 35.9 percent. Pakistan is ranked number two in this category. Afghanistan is the only country on the face of the planet that is worse off than Pakistan. The same percentage in Afghanistan is 32 percent.

Pakistan is ranked number 2: The duration of compulsory education in Pakistan is five years. Pakistan is ranked number 2 in this category. Angola is the only country on the face of the planet where the duration of compulsory education is four years. The same in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands is 13 years.

Pakistan is ranked number 3: More than 30 million Pakistani women aged 15 or over are illiterate. Pakistan is ranked number three in this category.

Pakistan is ranked number 4: Pakistan spends 7.8 percent of overall government expenditure on education. Pakistan is ranked number four in this category. The only three countries that spend even less are: Panama, Slovakia and Equatorial Guinea. Imagine, Thailand spends 28 percent and Malaysia 20 percent.

Pakistan is ranked number 4: More than 18 million Pakistani men aged 15 or above are illiterate. There are only three other countries where there are more illiterate men aged 15 or above.

Pakistan is ranked number 5: Pakistan spends 1.8 percent of its GDP on education. There are only four countries on the face of the planet that spend even less – the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Ecuador and Equatorial Guinea. Imagine, Cuba spends 18.7 percent of its GDP on education, Malaysia 8.1 percent, Israel 7.5 percent and India 4.1 percent.

India spends 4.1 percent of its GDP on education and we spend 1.8 percent. No wonder, India produces around 13,000 scientific and technical journal articles and Pakistan less than 400.

Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan; Chapter 1: Fundamental Rights- Article 25-A: “The State shall provide free and compulsory education to all children of the age of five to sixteen years in such manner as may be determined by law.”

For the record, a mere six percent of Pakistanis are aware of their constitutional right to a “free and compulsory education” (Alif Ailaan).

Very shameful indeed.

The politicians who jumps alot on education issue i.e PTI, MQM & PML-N...where are they? Most populace of Pakistan live in the areas that are under PML-N, MQM & PTI's rule...so what are they doing to solve this giant & threatening issue.

Your government should make a priority of solving this problem.
Education is an important pillar in bringing the country forward.

66 years and look at our astounding accomplishments.

To go on for decades like; one step forward, two steps back... that is an accomplishment within itself.

I dont think a mere 66 years is enough time for any nation to prosper. You need at least a century or more.

pakistan started well in the marathon with a sprint in first few rounds but somehow got sidetracked in other things. It's still not out of race though.

Real Shame!!!!

Pakistan must tackle education on strategic basis...but what can you expect from feudal chaudrys sitting in parliament?

PTI is biggest hope in KPK and they'll perform in this regard Inshallah (hope redundant tali bunnies don't come in the way)...

Shahbaz Shareef is also a hope in this regard....

Sindh and Balochistan? Hardly any hope...

I somewhere read that until few years back, out of 1.4 billion Muslims, 800 million were illiterates...I guess this alone justifies the U.S bombing the living sh!t out of us. What else should be done with such people?

There needs to be strategic initiative of educating citizens all across the Islamic World...Turkish model of education can be studied....China's help can be obtained...and U.S will help in this regard...

Regional partnerships like Afghanistan-Pakistan-India would be great too....

But hey, we got better things to do...namely believing in jewish conspiracy theories, Persian (pathetic) vs GCC Arabs (even more pathetic) wars...Ahemadi/Shia bashing...crying about Islamophobia and so on...

Shameful

You got to remember that since PTI hasn't been part of any govt before 2013, it has no contribution in creating this mess. The main culprits are those who have been ruling this country since past few decades.

However, since you've talked about PTI, you need to see the steps it has taken in this regard in only 3 months time. You can see the priorities of PTI clearly.

The necessity for education should be top priority for any govt , the Kids of today are what will form tomorrow society .

All this in just 3 months.. :smokin:

enrolment drive has started already here however we need practical implementation of other polices and words too.

education seen as last priority in our politicians view..

the more education the more question asking geeks infront of them ... not good for their kind of democracy.. distributing free food is more important though..

the more depends on their mercy people will make them more big..

Education should be at priority but unfortunately our governament is not taking interest in it. They just want money, In my opinion KPK govt (PTI) is not above suspicion because just lecture doesn't clean this mess practical work is required for change and PTI is just making castles in the air.
