2 Bangladeshis kidnapped by BSF

Since Awami League regime came to power with indian bag of cash, 52 army officers commanding BDR were killed and BDR was turned into a force that can not fire on border violation by BSF. Furthermore, recently Awami League regime pulled BDR from border to suppress political opposition. And now we see BSF even intruding inside Bangladesh and kidnapping bangladeshis.

Recent Economist article described indian violation and killing of Bangladeshis as:

"No country at peace with its neighbours has more citizens shot dead by the security forces of one of its neighbours."

Human Rights Watch described indian BSF as "Trigger happy".
hmm....this is terrible.....what measures are government taking to deal with this???:undecided:

.

People don't have a clue about the border and the problem is multiplied because the fence is in India territory.

hey bro, what is our benifit by anti indian propaganda ?BSF did so and the media published or broadcast it. thats all. nothing about anti india .and all we are blaming the BSF here not the india :)

Not you, but a lot of shady organizations in BD and elsewhere which don't like the idea of India and Bangladesh getting along.

What do you think BSF achieved by "kidnapping" two random Bangladeshis?

When a smuggler is arrested, do you think he/his family members would ever say that he has been arrested for smuggling/committing a crime? So they say that BSF "kidnapped" them.

Knowing both sides of the story is very important.

.
well its realy hard to justify the exact matter or incident in that area . bsf says arrest the ppl/smuggler says kidnap.only god knows what was exacly the right. once i saw a video aljazeeraenglish about cow trafficing.so i learned some what exactly happend in bd india broder.india has plenty of cows but its useless cos cow is a sacred animal there. in bd cow is a steak. and we need cows for our protein.indian leaders wants to export cows legaly but for political and public sentiment the cows cant be exporet. a cow is nothing neighter an item that can be smuggled, its not like the cocaine or drugs.but unfortunately it is now a smuggled case.i agree with u some cases. and i hope u will realise the reality too.we are not the enemies of eachother.i think this is not a that much a serious case. we can solve it easily. problem is 2 taka ki politicians ban jae prime minster , they cant take a dicission , just busy keep luting the country.and in dia same thing like for public vote they cant take any measure too. but both goverment should try to solve this soon. border killing hurts ppl here so much , weather they r smuggler or not.

Fair enough. I was generalising and it can't be taken against you personally as I've really not obeserved you much.

But my contention stays that the shootings on the border make BD anti-India and does not help India and certainly does not make BD subservient. THAT is why we have tried to improve matters. THAT is why WE are building a fence, not BD.

The same way you are generalizing all border atrocities (not only shootings) being committed by your terrorist forces under the banner of illegal immigration. We Bangladeshi have the right to react when our sovereignty is at stake and I wrote my comments for my compatriots here...not willing to argue with you on this topic because I know how stereotyped you people are.

When your authority surely believes that Bangladeshi people going anti-india wouldn't matter a little because there is already a master-slave deed between the govt.s, it really a mere issue if it does help or not.

One thing I must say you're being deceived by your own politicos on this ground could be hard for you to accept from me.

1. Indian human rights organizations have condemned the BSF.

Indian human rights activist Meenakshi Ganguly has spoken out against them too.

2. The BSF have also tortured and murdered Indians.

New York-based Human Rights Watch, in a 2010 report titled “Trigger Happy,” said the BSF had killed 164 Indians and 347 Bangladeshis on the border since 2006.

3. BSF thugs have tortured Indians as seen in the quote below including atrocities carried out in Murshidabad, West, Bengal, India.

The International Secretariat of OMCT has been informed by Banglar Manabadhikar Suraksha Mancha (MASUM), a member of OMCT SOS-Torture Network, about two cases of alleged ill-treatment by Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers in West Bengal, namely the cases of Mr Ajibor Gaji, aged about 26 years old from Amudia Village, in North 24 Parganas district, and Mr Majim Sardar, aged about 46 years old from Char Sahebnagar village, in Murshidabad district.

According to the information received, on 21 July 2012 at about 11:00 pm, Mr Ajibor Gaji, a daily wager earner, was returning home with his cows by crossing the ground of Amodia Primary School, near Amodia Gate no. 1, when eight BSF soldiers from Amodia BSF Out-Post, Battalion no. 152, detained him. One of the BSF soldiers, about 30 years old, started to beat Mr Ajibor Gaji with a stick on his face, forehead and ears and then on his back, legs and chest with a riffle but. Other five soldiers also started to beat him with sticks and riffles all over his body. It is reported that a BSF officer from the intelligence unit witnessed the beating from a short distance but did not intervene. Mr Ajibor Gaji was then taken to Amodia Camp in a BSF van. He was only released when neighbours came to the camp and paid the aforementioned BSF intelligence officer some money. He was then brought to a local doctor for a medical examination and treatment. Mr Ajibor Gaji reportedly suffered swellings and bruising on different parts of his body.

Mr Ajibor Gaji lodged on 26 July 2012 a written complaint to the Sub Division Police Office, Basirhat, North 24 Parganas, to denounce the aforementioned events. To date, there has been reportedly no investigation carried out into the aforementioned events.

According to the same information received, on 23 June 2012 in the evening, Mr Majim Sardar, a farmer, was returning home from Seikhpara when about eight BSF soldiers from Kaharpara BSF Out-Post, Battalion no. 92, detained him on the Kaharpara Iron Bridge without giving any reason. The BSF soldiers allegedly started to kick Mr Majim Sardar until he almost lost his senses. He was taken to Raninagar Police Station but the on-duty police officer reportedly refused to take him in custody. The BSF soldiers then took him to Kaharpara BSF Camp where he was detained for three days without charges and without access to a lawyer and his family in violation of the Indian Criminal Procedure Code. He was allegedly deprived of sleep and was not provided medical care. On 26 June 2012, Mr Majim Sardar was transferred to Raninagar Police Station, where the BSF soldiers lodged a complaint against him for “disobedience to an order lawfully promulgated by a public servant” (case no. 350/2012 under section 188 of Indian Penal Code). He was then taken to Godhanpara Primary Health Centre for a medical check up before being presented at Labagh Court. He reportedly suffered from hematoma and bruising on his chest and back. He was later released on bail.

Majim Sardar is a tribal.

Name of the victim: Mr. Majim Sardar, son of late Rajen Sardar, aged about 46 years, of Char Sahebnagar village, Borderpara Post, Raninagar Police Station Murshidabad district, West Bengal, India. He belongs to the Oraon community that is a Scheduled Tribe. ...

As a result of the burden of meeting medical costs, his family slipped into starvation that resulted in the death of his daughter Dipa, aged 14 years, due to hunger and related ailments on 7 July, 2012.

4. Former Indian federal minister (for railways) and current leader of 90 million Indian West Bengalis Mamata Banerjee has also called for the highly brutal, violent and BSF terrorist force to be reined in.

She has protested against BSF murder of Indian Bengalis.

Concerned over social instability and law and order problems in the areas adjacent to the India-Bangladesh border — in view of people getting killed by the Border Security Force (BSF) jawans — the state government has decided to take up the matter with the Centre.

“Chief minister Mamata Banerjee is very concerned over the increasing incidents of people being killed by BSF personnel along the state’s border areas and she will write to the Centre to protest against this,” said Kiriti Roy of human rights organisation Manabadhikar Suraksha Mancha (MASUM), which works against alleged BSF atrocities.

According to data provided by MASUM, while five people were killed in BSF firing in Cooch Behar district, four lost their lives in North 24-Parganas in the past six months. During the same period, two persons were killed in BSF firing in Malda, three in North Dinajpur and two in South Dinajpur districts

So the BSF is a terrorist organization carrying out atrocities against both Indians and Bangladeshis according to:

- Human Rights Watch
- Indian civil society groups
- West Bengal state government of India

Bangladeshi government must take strong actions...today two are down....tommorrow can be 5 or six or seven.......proper investigations must be initiated and this issue must be raised in UN

Neither the BNP-Jamat coalition in power before or the Awami League in power now did anything against BSF terrorism.

This is my suggestion in combatting BSF terrorism.

1. Work with West Bengal state government to highlight and campaign against BSF terrorism.

2. Work with Indian civil rights organizations e.g. invite them to conferences in Dhaka.

3. Offer to pay sums of money in compensation even to Indian victims of BSF terrorism to humiliate the BSF and the northern Indian/Punjabi ruling elite that run New Delhi and hate Bengalis (Indian or Bangladeshi).

4. Social media campaign to ask for the resignation of BSF commanders or the head of the organization after any Bangladeshi or Indian is murdered by the BSF terrorist organization.

KOLKATA, JAN 18: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed deep anguish and indignation at the Border Security Force (BSF)’s wanton firings on the Indo-Bangladesh border. In a scathing criticism of the BSF’s role on the border, she warned that her government had taken strong exception to the trigger-happy actions of the Indian border guard personnel.

It is reported that she lodged a written protest note to the federal home ministry about the recent firing incident at Hili in Dakshin Dinajpur on 2 January when an Indian was reported to have been killed in BSF firings. She also drew attention of the central home ministry to the 16 killings in BSF firings during last six months. She reportedly asked the concerned home ministry authorities to take appropriate steps to stop this type of firings on the border by the BSF.
Giving this information to newsmen at the Writers’ Buildings on Thursday, the state home department secretary Basudeb Banerjee said that the chief minister’s protest letter on BSF firings was forwarded to the central home ministry recently. Refusing to part with a copy of the letter, he said that the state government was in touch with the authorities of the BSF (South Bengal) for the redressal of the chief minister’s grievances on the BSF role on the border.
He however declined to elaborate further the tenor and content of discussion with the BSF high-ups. Meanwhile, the additional director general of the BSF (South Bengal) B D Sharma asserted that faced with joint attacks of Indian and Bangladeshi criminals – mainly cattle-smugglers – on the border, the BSF was generally forced to resort to firings as self defense measures. Giving statistics, he said that during last six months, altogether 26 smugglers – 13 Indians and 13 Bangladeshis – lost lives during midnight firings.
At the same time, he claimed that smugglers killed 2 BSF jawans and injured 201 officers and jawans during this period. Sharma explained the modus operandi of BSF
action on the border while dealing with cross-border criminal activities.
He explained that before resorting to firings, BSF first applied ‘stun gun’, and the lob ‘tear-gas shells’ and ‘pump-action gun’ to disperse the law-breakers on the border. If all these measures failed to disperse the attacking smugglers, BSF then felt compelled to open fire. The BSF ADG also asserted that because of restraint on the part of BSF, the border firings were reduced substantially in 2012 (26 dead in firings) in comparison to over 100
in 2011.
He disclosed that in a recent bi-partite meeting with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), it was agreed that in dealing with border criminals, non-lethal weapons would be used. Queried about the displeasures of the state chief minister, he said that they had sought an appointment with the CM to explain the BSF stand on the issue.
