1971, a story of fear, loss and hope

If that was the case Pakistanis would have rejected 3,000 visas for Indian Sikh pilgrims to Pakistan to celebrate Guru Nanaks birthday. At the same time why did Pak issue dozens upon dozens of visas to Indian Hindu pilgrims to visit Pakistan? Remember India has a government in place inspired by the Hindu faith. Pakistan does not have a religious party in power. It's better India mended its ways as Gujurat like atrocities will continue to resurface.
Even Pakistanis are given visas to Ajmer to visit the Holy shrine of Dargah khawaja Moinuddin Chishti (Garib Nawaz). Pakistani do come to India for medical treatment. Pakistan does not have a religious party in power but the religious party led by fiery cleric Hussian Rizvi even forced the law minister to resign recently. About the Gujarat incident, it happened in 2002. On the other hand more people are killed in Pakistan every year by the extremists

And what about sharmin Ahmed ,the daughter of tajuddin Ahmed ? Did you read her book? There she claimed that mujib (uncle for her) didn't declared indipendance but called for a general strike in 27 March ?
@Mage
And so? I don't care who declared independence of BD. I know Tajuddin wanted Mujib to do so. But he didn't. I admire Tajuddin. I have always believed that he should've been the first pm of independent Bangladesh.

You surely have some problem with anything Bengali. Probably hate your own culture, skin colour, language or something like that. And only want to cling to your religion. You better move to Saudia and see how much your Arab brothers love you.

I have no problem with bengali culture, but I don't accept your definition of Bengali culture .
And I also have problem with preconceived and fixed ideas ,and word games ,also fruitless dictation like what to do or what not, where to stay or where to go etc etc.
And also I have problem with clouded judgment .
We always should answer questions exactly what was asked . If no proper answer then remaining silent is a good way IMHO .
And here we or not talking about skin color so I have no idea why you said so.
And this is my religion Islam is most important if you know or understand the real teaching of islam. But I admit it's very hard to understand specially in those days where religions specially my religion is terribly targeted by a group named pseudo-secular.
So about my culture , Islamic culture is my primary culture ( that is universal and not limited to Arabians),and all others are secondary. And
I am not ashamed of my Islamic culture, but I am proud of it.

However let's end this as there is no permanent solution here. And fruitless argument and judgemental behavior can't bring any better result.
so atleast let's end this peacefully instead of making it worse. Thank you.

OH I see, much of the violence in Pakistan is due to US occupation and trouble in neighbouring Afghanistan. Recently Islamic extremists led by fiery cleric Rizvi in Pakistan had blocked a road for 2 weeks and even forced the law minister to resign. Some police officials were kidnapped tortured and badly beaten. A police van was also torched. Is it because of US occupation. Attacks on Hazars in Quetta is not because of US occupation. What about the ethnic violence between MQM and the ANP Pathans in Karachi. Is it because of US involment.
In every country there will be nationalists and religious hardliners. In Pakistan the protests erupted to challenge a change in law regarding Prophet Muhammad as the final Prophet of Islam. Regarding MQM their chief and architect is sat in London who gives killing orders. Partially UK is responsible for the turmoil in Karachi. Pakistan lost billions of dollars in siding with the US in the war on terror. This has had a dramatic effect on Paks growth. Please provide news links to show where police officials were kidnapped and tortured? Again a recent phenomena attacks on Hazara community. Prior to 9/11 no such thing ever occurred. Infact the Hazara escaped persecution from their strong holds of Norther Afghanistan to settle in Quetta. You may know one or two stories about Pakistan but the bigger picture is the war in Afghanistan which has cost Pakistan immensely.

Chandigarh, March 31

The mortal remains of 1971 war hero Brigadier Narinder Singh Sandhu (retd), a Maha Vir Chakra awardee, were consigned to the flames here on Saturday with full military honours. A large number of serving and retired officers, relatives and well-wishers bid adieu to the 85-year-old war veteran who had been battling cancer.

Prominent among them were the General Officer Commanding, 1 Corps, Lt Gen AS Kler, who is Brigadier Sandhu’s son-in-law, the Chief of Staff, Western Command, Lt Gen GS Dhillon, Deputy Chief of Army Staff and Colonel of the Dogra Regiment Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, the Director Sainik Welfare, Punjab, Brig JS Arora, president and vice-president of War Decorated India Lt Gen GS Sihota and Brig KS Chandpuri, respectively, Colonel of the 65 Armoured Regiment and General Officers Commanding of several divisions based in the region. The Commanding officer of 10 Dogra, the battalion Brigadier Sandhu had commanded in the India-Pakistan war, was present too.

A ceremonial guard from the Dogra Regiment and 3 Cavalry reversed arms as a mark of respect while buglers sounded the Last Post. Wreaths were laid on behalf of the Governor, the Punjab Chief Minister and the GOC-in-C, Western Command. However, no political leader or senior officer from Punjab was seen.

An alumnus of Khalsa College, Amritsar, Brigadier Sandhu was commissioned into 3 Cavalry in 1953. While commanding 10 Dogra in the Dera Baba Nanak Sector in 1971, he captured a key bridge in Pakistan’s territory, aborting the enemy’s attempts to mount an offensive into Punjab. In spite of a bullet injury in his leg, he continued to lead his men.

During the 1965 Indo-Pak war earlier, he had been Mentioned-in-Dispatches for gallantry in the Battle of Asal Uttar in Punjab when his lone cavalry unit destroyed several M-47 Patton tanks of a Pakistani armoured division.

There is nothing called "Islamic culture"
You will be hard pressed to prove its existence
