1962: For anyone who haven't read this...

(what I’m about to say is complete heresy and likely to offend all sides, so I apologize ahead of time.)

Also, nationalism comes in different flavours, just because you don’t blindly take sides don’t mean you doesn’t love your country (or in my case countries). But I am strictly against the pervailing Indian brand of nationalism that gets trumpeted in India media with its saccharine self congratulation, and timid chest thumping against China. (not saying idiot nationalism doesn’t exist in China, it does). The citizens able to do their country the most benefit, are the ones who can see their nation for what it is, flaws and all. This is especially important in a Democratic nation when the government directly relfect the sentiment of the people.

Buddy, you are sort of generalizing here regarding India media. You have been on this forum for quite a while now....so I believe you are probably aware of some 'crappy' media sources from India (Times of India & likes..etc). Try not to make your opinions based on (mis)information from these media sources. On the 'important' Indo-Chinese matters, I think the GoI press releases are the only reliable source of information.

Yeah I know, I've often been recommended the Hindu as an example of a good Indian paper but I can only forming my opinion based on what Indian members here cite in their posts(since it's the only time I read Indian articles). It is kind of hard to explain away the 2nd highest ranked paper in India.

Though whatever I say is never a slight on all Indians, especially not the intelligent and thoughtful Indian members here, whom I have immense respect for.

and please keep in mind, despite what gambit implies, I never profess myself to be an expert of any sort, all I write is my personal opinions to be taken exactly as such.

OK guys, are we still discussing the 1962 border war or are we done?

I was until Gambit showed up, but please let us continue. What did you think of my controversial statement before the thread got derailed?

LOL! which one? the one putting down combat veterans, or the one about Indians making noise about Chinese intrusions?

What did any of that have to do with the war itself? were you not a tad bit out of line?

I think you have confused putting down with just recognizing that they are ordinary people with flaws like the rest of us.

Is this current situation not an out-growth of 1962.

You're clearly offended and that was not my intention, so I apologize again and state for the umpteenth time that in this my personal view on things and I've great respect and gratitude for everyone of the few combat vets with whom I have to pleasure to speak with.

Gambit spends day and night trolling any Chinese thread he can find, and getting his posts deleted for racist content.

Although not quite as bad as this particular American member:

If china tries doing something funny, Uncle Sam will have to kick some chinese yellow arse....:usflag:

Do you know how many Nukes we have..? enough to wipe all of you Chinks off the face of the earth.....:usflag:

I'm not sure what anyone gains by "wiping the Chinks off the face of the Earth" to be honest.

Anyway, I am now reading more on these different "lines" that eventually resulted in the LAC line of today.

Turns out there was a "Johnson line" where the Brits actually gave China Aksai Chin, and now called it the "MacCartney-MacDonald Line".

Later, Aksai Chin was back in British hands as a result of the Bolshevik revolution, and Xinhai Revolution, and the original Johnson line re-appeared once again. It goes on and on until the McMahon Line appeared where the Chinese were basically sidelined. They protested and it did them no good. India carried the legacy forward.

What bought the PLA and Indian Army in a direct conflict situation was the fact the China overran Tibet.

Still reading, and learning at this point...

Was this the line they drew after Francis Younghusband's expedition against Tibet?

These guys just do not like to be challenged, even when evidences are presented in a reasonable manner and from reputable sources. It began a while back when some technical points about Chinese and Russian aviation were debunked, I was believed to be a white guy and related racial comments were hurled. Then when my true ethnicity came out, and given the superiority complex Chinese usually have for their more southern cousins, the ethnic slurs is approaching raw racist hatred.

Dude, I can actually understand you POV. But let's continue on. Any way you can dig from additional sources you may be able to find on these different lines the British drew? I am now very curious now...

Fair enough.

You are by far the most reasonable American member I have talked to on this forum.

Did I made that? You make the charge, you back it up, boy.

"Did I made that?"

"You back it up, boy."

Sorry you really crack me up Gambit! Anyway, here is what you asked for:

May be this penchant for dictatorship is deeply ingrained in Chinese sheeple but not in the US.

Racism is a negative stereotype about someone based on their racial background.

-racism or racialism
1. the belief that races have distinctive cultural characteristics determined by hereditary factors and that this endows some races with an intrinsic superiority over others
2. abusive or aggressive behaviour towards members of another race on the basis of such a belief
