Lahore: A Pakistani court has handed down 50 years imprisonment to a 13-year-old boy for killing an under-trial prisoner in court premises earlier this year.

Anti-Terrorism Court (Gujranwala district) Judge Chaudhry Imtiaz Ali sentenced the accused yesterday for allegedly killing one Hafiz Ghias, on trial for attempted murder, in the court premises. He was also finedRs.2 lakh.

The boy had shot dead Ghias on the court premises in Gujranwala, some 80 kilometres from Lahore in June this year when he was to be produced before a judge in a case of attempted murder.

Ghias had attacked and injured the boy's father.

The boy told police that he wanted to take revenge from the victim for attacking his father and critically injuring him.

Ridiculous sentencing.

Pakistani court system is full of paindoos.

why was it tried in anti terror court? is there any link with terrorism, which looks like petty feud.

Probably the accused had the right "connections".

Shouldn't the fellow be tried as minor, if so it would automatically reduce the severity of his sentence. Surely the procedure of treating those who have not attained the age of majority as juveniles and ergo trying them as such in a court of law is well established in Pakistan?

That's my point about paindoos.

These clowns will throw the book at a 13 year old and beat their chests about it.

Meanwhile the armies of adult terrorists roam free.

He committed the crime right?

He shot the guy in open court, so it's not like there is much doubt of his guilt.

50 years is steep for a 13-year old kid, but if you do the crime then you have to accept the punishment.

The only Problem is that a 13 year old does not know right from wrong.

Maybe he should be thrown in Juvenile Jail till he is 18.

My suspicion is his family handed him a gun to kill because they thought no one would put a 13 year old in Jail.
