As the protests triggered by the death of Hizbul terrorist Burhan Wani fails to stop even after three weeks, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said Kashmir was being consumed by violence -- a place where "a 10-year-old boy slaps a shopkeeper", gangs of "masked children roam the streets" and young girls are threatened they would be "set on fire" for riding scooties.

PS: Sad to See Sufi culture of the valley changing in Hardcore Wahabism

It's pretty clear to see what is going on in Kashmir Valley these days amongst the "freedom fighters" if it was anything to do with "Azadi" they wouldn't be holding up ISIS flags.

Wahhabism has seeped across the border and now a bigger evil is growing.

these kids have seen only violence and agression since they are born... generation born after 91 are used to violence and brutality... no wonder they are insensitive.

@John Reese wrong section.. it should have been in central and south Asia

@waz @WAJsal @WebMaster

Pls move the thread to appropriate section.

On topic-

It's my personal opinion that Jammu and Kashmir topic is seeing a over exposure and over weightage.
It will make sense if peace and tranquility returns to the state. Media plays an important role and if this so called highlighting day and night does not stop apparently the negativity will increase further..

The slap, the stone pelting, the scooty threat all point to an extreme nature of events for which any more media coverage will act only as a trigger and incentive to further propagate such events. Hope good sense prevail and state government make every effort to maintain law and order and also fight against such events by discouraging it actively and providing security to the citizens of the state appropriately.

This may be a factor for some but one cannot deny that there is something else going on with the present day radicalising of youth that is happening around the world. The attackers in Nice, Paris, Brussels, Orlando, Munich etc etc did not grow up in Kahsmir.

The Wahhabism that is spreading across the globe is a very specific threat and making excuses for these barbarians is not going to solve the problem.

PS: Sad to See culture of the valley being occupied by hardcore hindus

"Hypocratic country " ....does that banner mean India produces a lot of doctors ?

I always wonder about people who hold up such misspelt posters....if they don't have the sense to check the meaning of the words they are holding up to the world then how can you assume the rest of what they say has any sense? Bl00dy ridiculous paid protestors!

Brother media is not obsessed in its reporting about the on going conflict in valley, instead I feel media failed in past to highlight the breeding cause of religious extremism especially amongst the Kashmiri folks....
National media has been refraining from propagating the such news to great deal, but now every sane mind feels to take on the spreading wahabism in the valley so is more media coverage & open talk of wahabism in mainstream media circle ....
Let me request you to pls visit the downtown of Srinagar & hear the Friday sermon patiently, you will get the flow of wahabhi undercurrent in valley ....
One small incident in Islamabad (Anantnag) where I & few Kashmiri Muslim folks were forcefully not allowed to eat our meal during ramzaan ....

Kashmiri problem is not anymore a political issue but on the verge of becoming a issue of religious fundamentalism coated with so called Kashmiri nationalism of gunshots....

That would have to be 'Hippocratic'.

I keep putting my foot in my mouth. Should I not stop being obsessive about this?

OK, go ahead; I'm braced.

Top of the above the conspicuous silence of mufti gov is itself a vindictive sign of complicit gov at helm... Mufti had a very long history throughout shouldering / siding with terrorists & separatist yet we expect them to be politically honest in a unholy alliance with BJP....

As you sow so shall you reap

They will all grow up to be goons ; having started young as stone throwers
There has been significant escalation in remuneration of stone pelters from 500rs a day to 1500-2000 rs a day. All the money are distributed through religious mufti/maulvis in the valley during Friday prayer... Local Intel had already apprehended about the situation & use of whabi money post wani encounter yet the Mufti-Bjp gov remain a mute spectator.

Ok, correct me if I am wrong...but I have never seen the word Hypocratic....shouldn't it be " hypocritical country" ?

Hypocratic would be pronounced exactly the same as Hippocratic. ...hence my belabored joke! I could have made a comment on safari parks too!

It's like the restaurant sign I once saw for "A1 Shenese" food. I am no grammar purist, but a person should at least have some idea of what the writer intends to communicate, otherwise what is the point of putting up a sign? What on earth is "shenese" food for eg?

Anyway, I am no expert, I leave it to you to tell us which is the correct form.

No, no, that was a good quip and right on target. I was just being a pedant. I giggled a bit, and then, like the old dud with crumpled clothes, ink-stained fingers and tea-stained moustache that I have become, I had to make that disastrous orthographic intervention.

I need to be protected from myself.

Of course you're right; it should be hypocritical and hypocratic is too close to Hippocratic to let the chance pass.

Woe is me. My mouth/fingers run away with me every time.
