It doesn't actually work that way. The engines will be purchased by the Turkish manufacturer from the US OEM. Then the Turkish company re-exports it to Pakistan. The re-export needs a separate license from the US government. If CAATSA were to kick in, it would be at the first stage and the...
Yes, spare parts. That is exactly what I was saying. You pointed out the example of the US supplied engines for the Turkish ships. US is still supplying those to Turkey even though CAATSA has been imposed on Turkey. Odd world, isn't it?
And what does CAATSA affect specifically in the Pak-US context? Will it lead to stoppage of deliveries of additional F-16s that pakistan isn't buying? or the AH-1Zs that the US isn't delivering? or the engines for the T-129s that the US isn't signing off on? or the OHP Frigate re-armament...
You're absolutely right. CAATSA is also why i doubt the S-400 will appear in the region. But I just wanted to put the option of S-350 Vityaz there on the first page because imo it is the best SAM available to Pakistan (there is no way the US would release any of the Patriot/SM series). The...
I wish the americans would block the engine, or stall it for a few years so the deal finally collapses. Pakistan has for years been throwing billions of dollars away on questionable purchases, buying weapons that do nothing to offset the mil balance (HQ-16, frigates and corvettes, VT-4, the...
It is a modular weapon. It will have options for 1) Multiple Seekers and 2) Multiple warhead types. But we haven't seen any indication that there will a turbojet powered version.
There was a surface-launched rocket powered variant shown in one illustration, but AFAIK the air launched version...
I believe the generation that comes after the F-22/J-20 will have 3 types of fighters:
1. Conventional Manned Fighter
2. Autonomous/Remotely Controlled Unmanned Fighter
3. Manned/unmanned Spaceplane
engine technology is probably the frontier which will determine who comes out on top in this race.
Not that many people active there these days. SDF is now a sad image of its old self, most of the old timers are gone. Still, there are a few really great posters on SDF who i wish posted here as well. A few that i can name:
- Tam
- Hendrik
- Vincent
- vesicles
- Tirdent

We have a thread overload on this forum. Instead of posting stuff in the relevant threads, most members here will create new threads all over the place. Most of these threads end up with just a single post, which quickly gets lost in the flood of new threads and most members never...
thanks figaro.
OT:
And if you dont mind me asking, what is this stuff the other chinese members here say about you being ethnically Indian? and "undercover indian" lol. Don't get me wrong, i value your commentary, and I always though you were chinese-american. But I noticed some messages in...
i didnt know the TVC WS-10 had been installed on a J-20. I thought it was only the black-nozzled WS-10X.
Do we have any photos of the TVC WS-10 on J-20?
The FC-31 not coming is a blessing in disguise. It's a half baked orphaned stealth design which even the Chinese airforce wont procure. If you buy the J-31 you run the risk of ending up with an aircraft that no other airforce may buy. That alone is a deal breaker.
What about its adaptation...
