Top 10 most important historical figures (from any profession) in your country history?

Are you serious about Porus? The Quaid calls Iqbal a guide twice. In the context, it seems more like giving the idea of Pakistan and 'guiding' the Muslims to a separate homeland in the Subcontinent and does not suggest a mentor/teacher-student relationship between the two.

I think 'mentored' isn't the right word to describe their relationship.

Who do you think was the greatest general in history? Why?

Which battles did you check? And I don't see what good propaganda will do you when it's OBVIOUS that an army of Bedouin Arabs will be inferior numericaly and qualitatively if pit against the Sasanian and Byzantine empires. Both these empires had larger manpower reserves to raise armies from...

Siege of Damascus 634 AD I Muslim - Byzantine Wars

As far as I know, Salman al-Farsi wasn’t present at the Siege of Damascus and even if he was, he certainly played no role in advising Khalid or assisting in the siege. You’re right. Siege of Damascus 634 AD I Muslim - Byzantine Wars

Umm... so? I was aware of Damascus’ size in the 7th century. It was quite small compared to modern cities but it was still one of the largest cities of Byzantium.

Siege of Damascus 634 AD I Muslim - Byzantine Wars

What surprised me is just how well Khalid bin Walid managed the siege despite the fact that he was an Arab. In those days the Arabs had absolutely NO concept of fortifications in warfare. A mere trench around Madinah was enough to deter its assailants from Makkah. And with this background Khalid...

Who do you think was the greatest general in history? Why?

On a more serious note a craftsmen can win 50 battles but only a van Gogh can win 50 battles against a numerically and qualitatively superior foe.

Who do you think was the greatest general in history? Why?

Here goes... He repeatedly annihilated larger, fresher and better equipped armies with a ragtag force. Despite belonging to a people with no concept of fortifications or sieges he successfully besieged Damascus. He also devised a variety of tactics to defeat his enemy and was also a remarkable...
