The only effective method of using a LMG to bring down a heli that I know of is to hit it from above. This tactic has been used to some degree of success in Afghanistan. Find the helis LZ...get a overlooking spot and setup a few LMGs, duskhas and some RPGs. Let the heli come as close to landing...
