Irfan Baloch Has Said Goodbye !!

Very sad news, if true. @Irfan Baloch was well respected even by Indians. One by one, all the sane and respect-worthy members are quitting. I'm not quite sure what that word means, but as a decade old member, I can categorically state that Irfan sir was a beloved poster for us Indians as well...

whats the difference between our fence with Afghanistan vs the one with India?

I remember a time when there were plenty of reasonable Indian members on this forum, and lots of useful discussions to be had between Indians and Pakistanis. Not anymore, it seems.

Former Indian Pilot Reveals IAF Casualties in 1971 War !

This is debatable, for the 1965 war. PAF had Sabres, while the IAF had a generation older air-crafts. And specifically with regard to "supplies" - I don't know about the PAF, but the IAF was woefully short of A2A missiles and ammunition, and had no early warning assets or surface to air defences...

UP's Sania Mirza To Become India's 1st Muslim Woman Fighter Pilot

The very fact that you are commenting on this thread belies that statement. Why else would you feel the need to offer your valuable perspective? Desperate for attention? Remember that this is a public forum, not a one to one messaging service. I may have quoted your post, but that doesn't mean...

Taliban bans university education for Afghan girls

This is precisely what happened in 1996. Women could not become medical (or any other) professionals, and women could not be treated by male doctors. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treatment_of_women_by_the_Taliban#Health_care

Former Indian Pilot Reveals IAF Casualties in 1971 War !

You should read up about Marshal of the Indian Air Force, Arjan Singh, the only person to ever hold that rank. Nobody else has risen to five star rank in the IAF. Arjan Singh

Former Indian Pilot Reveals IAF Casualties in 1971 War !

Perhaps he does not know that the IAF does not have caste or region based regiments like the IA does. @Windjammer : It is highly unlikely to find 24 Sikh pilots together like that.

UP's Sania Mirza To Become India's 1st Muslim Woman Fighter Pilot

Here is a more grounded article: https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/sania-mirza-of-up-on-the-flight-path-to-be-indias-first-muslim-woman-fighter-pilot/article66304836.ece I should have waited for clarification before starting this thread. Regardless, a rank of 149 in the NDA for a person...

UP's Sania Mirza To Become India's 1st Muslim Woman Fighter Pilot

Don't you think you are being disingenuous on that point? What would be the appropriate comparison? Anyway, as I said, I don't want to get into a measuring contest. That's a good attitude to have.👍

UP's Sania Mirza To Become India's 1st Muslim Woman Fighter Pilot

So have we, but this news is about a female, Muslim IAF officer. Anyway, I don't want to make this a measuring contest - just pointing out the specifics.

UP's Sania Mirza To Become India's 1st Muslim Woman Fighter Pilot

@jamahir @-=virus=- Please don't derail this thread, which is about the extraordinary achievement of a woman from a humble background. You are right to bring this up. In the IAF, assignment to different streams occurs after second stage training. (Fighter pilots, transport pilots, helicopter...

UP's Sania Mirza To Become India's 1st Muslim Woman Fighter Pilot

Sania Mirza, who studied in a Hindi medium school, said that Hindi medium students too can achieve success if they are determined. On December 27, she will join NDA Khadakwasla in Pune. Mirzapur: Sania Mirza, daughter of a TV mechanic from Mirzapur, has been selected to become a fighter...

Taliban bans university education for Afghan girls

It is the poster I was responding to, who confused the two. He is the one who brought the big bad "F" word into the conversation, and taking pleasure in this news because according to him, it would anger "feminists". This thread is about women's rights being taken away. By the way, I don't...

Work on 2nd Aircraft Carrier started?

"Ready to sail", not ready to serve. Those are very different things. Her predecessor's keel was laid down in 2009, and she was launched in 2013. What is it that you don't get? If it is a legitimate query, I can try to answer. If you simply want to pander to Pakistanis, and to prompt responses...

Taliban bans university education for Afghan girls

You misread. I said that feminists are for equality of opportunity, and NOT equality of outcome. The right to attend schools and universities, the right to work, and so on and so forth. All the rights that men have. Is it "Feminism" to say that girls should go to school and universities? If so...

Taliban bans university education for Afghan girls

Nobody claims that men and women are or will be equal. You have to learn the difference between equality of opportunity and equality of outcome. Feminists are the first people to acknowledge the difference between the sexes. Feminists (and most sane people) will advocate that women should get...

Taliban bans university education for Afghan girls

In 1996, they decreed that women could not be treated by male doctors at all. (In a country that didn't allow women to get educated or venture out of their homes without a male escort.) You can imagine the consequences.

Taliban bans university education for Afghan girls

Is this your takeaway from the situation? Half the country is being denied basic human rights, and you are happy that "feminists" will get mad? I see. @kingQamaR : This is what I meant.

Taliban bans university education for Afghan girls

And do you know what those women were called? "Feminists". ie, women who fought for equal rights. And yet, even in this thread, you can see that term being used disparagingly. I'll quote a post or two to illustrate what I mean.

In 2002, Narendra Modi taught a lesson to ‘anti-social elements’ in Gujarat, says Amit Shah

I haven't disparaged any community, if that is what you mean.
