According to CIA World Factbook, China announced it's poverty treshold as 363$/year meaning roughly 1$/ day and 6.1% of the population is below that line.

So no China is not poor. 35 years of hard work paid off. So if someone says China is poor you should laugh not reply...
I've done what you said so many times before. You can check my previous messages. I've supported China against my fellow Turkish members here. If I do have a bias that clouds my objectivity, it's in favor of China not against it. However I don't usually stay quiet if I see someone making fun of...
I have seen so many poverty debates lately on forum. There are a lot of ideas flying around but we need some concrete definitions as well in terms of what poverty is and situation of Asian Nations in terms of poverty.
First of all we need to define what poor is.
By definition poor means "the...
Sometimes I wonder how many lives were sacrificed for the "prevention" policy of US. Sometimes the world should just sit and watch. Because if other nations interfere we get the same results with much larger death tolls.
I have seen an article at Chinadaily today. 7 economists are answering the same 4 questions about China. Let's discuss them on this forum. That could be a nice discussion.
Q1 : Given the third-quarter figures, do you think Chinese economy can grow by 7.5 percent this year? If yes, why? If not...
This only proves one thing.
Taiwan is a lost cause for US now and the frontier became Japan.
China has a very active missile program. Decision makers in Pentagon doing everything to counter balance it.
Land-Based missiles are cheaper than plane and has no pilot. With robust...
You actually tend to agree on what I've stated. My main statement was, actual proof of China's strength won't be the ability to destroy Japan in a war. The actual proof of strength would be the China's ability to convince Japan to become allies.
If we dive deep into history, there wouldn't be...
I know that sometimes Shinzo Abe is hard to reason. However a true superpower does not think that simple. China puts a lot of effort to be able to destroy Japan in a conflict. This is understandable. I mean every nation tries to prove it's hard power.
But, and there is a big but, China also...
Hmm, you might have a point. Maybe there is a huge cash inflow to US. If the bulk amount is cash, this might be not that good for the economy though. There might be inflation.
25 trillions of more wealth in just 5 years. One can only imagine..
Total foreign assets of US is 4.8 trillion dollars.
You can't explain a 25 trillion wealth increase in 5 years with just buying assets abroad. No country can buy 5 trillion dollars of foreign assets a year.
Between 2009-2014 US increased it's wealth equal to the amount of total wealth in...
No this is not about distribution and welfare. What I've meant was there is huge wealth increase in US after 2009 crisis. In 2000-2009 period the wealth increase was in much more slower rate. And suddenly after 2009 US sees a huge peak.
I mean in the period which people think US Economy is...
I've checked out the report and saw some interesting results. Until 2009 US share on global wealth was steadily dropping and at it's lowest point (2009) it saw 26%. After 2009 we start to see steady increase and currently it's 31.8%
Does anybody have an idea about that?
Oct 7th : She was rumoured to become the next PM of Japan.
Oct 20th : She resigned because of allegations stating misuse of political support funds.
Political environment is always volatile.
Are we going to be emotional or realist? The soil that you don't govern does not belong to you, and at the point when an enemy soldier puts it's feed on your soil, you officially won't be governing that soil.
However in order to be more politically correct I could've said "Soviet Zone" just...
Dude they have literally occupied the entire surrounding territories of Berlin. It was a symbolic gesture from them to let allies "jointly" occupy Berlin. But after that you immediately claim something and try to govern the city. If they wouldn't allow you to enter Berlin in the first place you...
Yeah that's exactly the point. Great observations indeed. However the decision makers eventually go for stimulus packages. Their reasoning is definitely not economical. They also know that this is a very short term relief and eventually it will pay off in the future.
However they do it because...
