Chogy - Does that hold good for short range missiles (heat seeking missiles , Imaging missiles , etc). I always thought that heat seeking /imaging missiles chase the plane ... Thanks for the wonderful post..

Dont think they are earthquake proof - earthquake would be a big calamity.

What you say might be true ....but one of the major components are electrical cabling and wiring of the entire system...plus to integrate all the different systems even if they are tested on other ships takes time....and we dont even know whether all of these systems have been integrated...

Arent we a way too optimistic out here…I am not castigating anyone …Navy has been my favorite out of all three service arm…For a sea trial to happen you need to have an entire gamut of systems in place….I would love if IAC1 joins by 2014..however regardless of what MoD has told in parliament...

I dont think IAC1 will be inducted in couple of years , infact it may very well take atleast 4-5 years for the carrier to get inducted. The hull will be constructed by end of year - then all the wiring work will need to be completed, installation of engines , radars , weapon systems , crew...

That is not entirely correct - EJ tried to revise the price of the bid in the last moment - which was not accepted by MoD. Due to which EJ turned out to be more expensive (even for engine to engine comparison) with respect to GE. If MoD had accepted the revised bid, then L1 would have been EJ.

Only 3 are done ....i.e deal is signed only for 3...negotiations are one for 2 more....unless ofcourse you can correct me

Sancho, Its really surprising...French never integrated HMS for Rafale...wonder why that is ....is it because Spectra helps in cueing the missiles to their target...significantly reducing need for an HMS ?

Ohhh absolutely...and i fully agree with that....credit should be given...and DRDO is doing a fabulous job given resources and bureaucracy ...i never had that in contention...my only gripe is ...take all the credit you what ..after you demonstrate the product....instead releasing the news...
