Japan PM Suga mulls Oct. visit to Vietnam, Indonesia, 1st trip abroad

Japan has been increasing defense sales and military exchanges with Vietnam starting with patrol boats and now with larger patrol ships. Actual warship construction in cooperation with Malaysia for the Vietnamese Navy may happen sooner than I would have guessed. It is important to get...

Nearly half of Taiwanese unwilling to fight to defend nation

Rape of Nanking is often exaggerated. Degree of rape is difficult to assess. I'm sure it happened, along with pillage. It wasn't permitted from above command, but ground soldiers got too far with it. Surely a degree of racial superiority feeling was there. But i think this is defined as unique...

Nearly half of Taiwanese unwilling to fight to defend nation

Again, that is a stigma created by PRC propaganda that does not just not recognize out of ignorance but literally refuses to recognize history in the full. So the circle of distrust will remain around PRC.

So much for PRC "toleration". Actually this extreme desparation displayed by the PRC to maintain their claim on Taiwan makes them look very weak in some ways. It's like being unable to live without the claim. Seems like crazy addiction.

Actually I think the Australians are good and practical and in the right to pay respects to their war dead and in the right to criticize any point of view that tries to glorify the atrocities. What I say is what I mean, a middle road of faults and bad by both sides, not a black and white picture...

You just said Japan was a threat in the post that I was replying to. Now you're saying the opposite. Thank you for the exchange.

European powers reject China's South China Sea claims

Without compromise to get the trust of surrounding neighbors, then the US will continue to be welcomed in the region. So even if China becomes "number 1" it'll always be just syntax number 1 since the coalition of distrust will keep PRC influence bottled up.

Nearly half of Taiwanese unwilling to fight to defend nation

The view of Japan being a threat is PRC's own creation. But of course Japan is no angel. What country is an angel? The PRC??? The reinterpretation of Japan's constitution came with overwhelming international support. It could not happen without the threat China poses to its neighbors.

European powers reject China's South China Sea claims

Japan "aggression" is an exageration. https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/suga-wins-ldp-election-in-step-to-becoming-japans-prime-minister.684628/post-12703134 China's earliest claim on the South China Sea was as a means to counter French influence that was growing in Indochina. So that means that...

That is true, its a newer addition to Japan territory, taken away by the US but then returned by the US. Okinawa independence sentiment is very low. There aren't any Okinawans being sent to dentention centers unlike Xinjiang. If there were dention centers on Okinawa, then it could be said that...

Nope, nothing like that. It is what it is and China had about 500,000 study abroad students and its just interesting to see the make up, no implied meaning attached in that post.
