Isn't gripen a light aircraft like thunder and lca? Where as Rafale is a heavier plane in the category of j-10, f-18, EF-2000. IAF was looking for a heavier and more capable plane. And gripen can't be everything despite being very cost-efficient and high-tech. Pakistan could prefer this plane...
