Overall Urban % is 38.2% for Bangladesh in 2020, with an annual urbanization rate of 3.17% while India has an urban population of 34.9%, and has an annual urbanization rate of 2.37%. In fact, only Bhutan and Maldives, both with a population...
Dhaka is the only "double digit million" city, but there are a lot of cities in the 100 thousands and millions (India itself, a country of almost 1.4 billion only has 4 or 5). I'm from Chittagong and it has 5-8 million people, and hosts the busiest port on the Bay of Bengal, and 3rd busiest in...
I've always thought Dhaka was a bit too crowded and populous to function properly. Though, I've stayed mainly in hotels in Gulshan and Uttara during my visits (been like 10-12 times), so probably don't even know the "actual picture" which may be worse. Chittagong is a nice place to live though...
Both Indos and UKBengali are right to an extent. The train won't allow daily commute of workers in the first 2 decades, simply because the fare would be too expensive, despite lower time. It'll be used on a one-time basis however, and will likely always sell out or be close to 75% capacity due...

Indonesians have a higher standard of living and are more developed, not to mention a large land mass and abundant natural resources. Bangladesh is probably in between half a decade to a decade or so behind Indonesia in development, and the country has limited natural resources and a large...
BTW we are indeed industrializing at a rapid pace. The 100 economic zones will all be at full capacity by 2030, which will employ about 10 million people directly, many more indirectly. Not only are those zones attracting things like textiles-garments from overseas markets, and existing light...
Alia Madrasas are just like any government school, except that they teach Arabic, and is of course more Islamic-focused. Quomi madrasas don't teach any subject properly besides Islamic studies, and that is depriving students from essential learning, which is deplorable to say the least.
There are also a handful of Marwaris, around 20-25000 mainly in North Bengal. Majority are beginning to marry Bengali Hindus. They are middle class, and hardly have influence unlike in West Bengal where they virtually dominate the economy.
