    15 Jordanian F-16 for sale

Falcon UP and Falcon STAR were meant to ensure the F-16A/Bs reach their intended 8000 service life, it is not known if there's a program to extend the life of the A/B from 8000 to 12,000 hours. That said, this C/D SLEP could be an option if the PAF tries to pursue ex-USAF F-16C/Ds stored in AMARC.

    15 Jordanian F-16 for sale

I didn't say I support Zardari or Sharif. I was making a simple point ... had the policies of Zardari and Sharif just been confined to stealing money through shady means (which isn't uncommon anywhere in the world to be honest), then recovering from theft is a simple matter. But recovering from...

    15 Jordanian F-16 for sale

Quick note. We malign Zardari for pillaging the national exchequer, but bad government has other - potentially permanent - hazards as well. One can always recover from a loss of $10 billion or $20 billion U.S. directly stolen from one's politicians. Yes, it takes time, but with a well managed...

ASELSAN has sold 16 E/O ASELPODs to Pakistan for $25 million

@Bilal Khan 777 sir, just that there is no confusion. By "avionics" you are referring to the internal flight systems, correct? What of ECM/EW? I remember you were saying that the PAF would prefer sole sourcing the AESA radar and ECM/EW because it wants to fuse the two elements. But in the...

The PAF likens the F-16 to the '86 (Tokyo D reference).

ASELSAN has sold 16 E/O ASELPODs to Pakistan for $25 million

It depends on how much they've developed in-house, and in the case of imported components, to what extent they are allowed to export to third parties. @Bilal Khan 777 @cabatli_53

PAKISTAN TO SPEND $12 BILLION ON ARMS IN 2016-2024

It is wishful thinking, but if it is becoming a credible and increasingly pervasive practice in the real world, the Army will eventually be exposed to the idea in one shape or another. A good sign would be the Polish-Ukrainian Oplot howitzer come to fruition and strutted at IDEAS 2018 or 2020.

    DISCUSSION: THUNDER AND TEJAS

@amardeep mishra - I generally try to discuss based on what I do know, and I avoid very technical subjects precisely because they aren't areas where I have done much studying. I am working to rectify that, but learning takes time. That said, everyone is welcome to add their views on the comment...

PAKISTAN TO SPEND $12 BILLION ON ARMS IN 2016-2024

Would an APC derived from a tank chassis basically just be the chassis with standing room? It would be much lighter as well, so there is no need for a powerful engine, even 800-900hp would be sufficient to power it.

    Pakistan's Service Rifle (G-3, Type-56) Replacement Competition 2016.

With the exception of taking the riskiest approach possible by committing to a million rifles upfront and paying $2 billion, there isn't much they can add to the bottom line compared to Pakistan. Pakistan may not be able to buy much, and it may be lacking in options, but the realm of small arms...

PAKISTAN TO SPEND $12 BILLION ON ARMS IN 2016-2024

Indeed. The al-Khalid series can be used as a bridge to perfect HIT's understanding of integration (especially engine and transmission), designing a new turret, etc. That experience can add to the Haider on the drawing board, though I am unsure if it should be a clean-sheet hull or one derived...

    JF-17 Thunder - Information Pool

Maybe we should get you to "think" about Selex AESA, BAE ECM/EW, A-Darter and some other gear ... I'm sure a few months of successive news in those areas would brighten up a lot of people's days. :) And also some JF-17 blk III Excuse me? We can sell them the ones manufactured in Pakistan and...

PAKISTAN TO SPEND $12 BILLION ON ARMS IN 2016-2024

Either way, develop a Khalid variant with a new turret and bigger engine, or make Haider into a long-term (post 2020/2025) play for a new common armour platform (for MBT and SPH at least).

First of Two Self-Propelled Pzh2000 Howitzers Arrive In Lithuania From Germany

Pakistan lacks funding power. If it wants a Western system, it would need to ask for a line of credit or loan to help finance the upfront cost and initiate a program. Just think back to the Erieye AEW&C deal. This is a disincentive to Western (and other) suppliers, and it puts Pakistan on a...

    Introducing - JF-17 Thunder Block - II

Couldn't the PAF acquire the necessary kits from China? There are J-7-based drones (used for live fire testing), or is it one of those things the Chinese want to keep close to their chests? In any case, it is what it is, let's hope for the best.

Zulfiquar Class Frigate vs Ada Class Corvette

I hope we see something in regards to DK-10 development, but I wonder if the PLAN is holding out on the PL-15 before developing an ESSM-like system. The DK-10 seems like an export-focused platform first and foremost, but we haven't heard much about since 2014. That aside, it does seem like the...

    Introducing - JF-17 Thunder Block - II

That's amazing - lots of potential considering it makes the idea of unmanned F-6s and A-5s (to serve as live targets) a little closer to reality. If anything, at least we'll get those missile/bomb launch videos.

    Introducing - JF-17 Thunder Block - II

@Bilal Khan 777 Are you saying that a local instrumentation range is finally being built? I've been hearing that this has been an ask for a few years now, especially as guided munitions (e.g. REK) are being built locally. If configured with the right equipment, this range could greatly improve...

PAKISTAN TO SPEND $12 BILLION ON ARMS IN 2016-2024

Yes retain the Khalid's 125mm - just design a new turret. I'd merge al-Khalid 2 and Haider into one program, there's hardly any difference in the end, especially if you outfit the Khalid with a 1500hp engine and redesigned turret with new armour technology and internals. Actually, it seems as...
