HAIL to the New MASTER : Article on CPEC in Daily Times PAKISTAN

The thread looks at a dismal scenario but the scenario in itself is dependent upon the generally muddled economics of CPEC

Until all those finances and exact figures come to light, both these doomsday secanrios and the utopia shown by the government hold little weight to what the reality really might be
Investment is never bad for the receipient country as long as the risk or gain is of the investor. But assuring fixed rates of return is never a good idea. Eg enron in India.

At the outset its ' your country , hence your rules'.

As an outsider it is worrisome that Pak is mortgaging generations to come by allowing itself to get ' used' if I may use the word . Exploited is a milder term to use in this case. In return for the investments Pak has nothing to offer but itself. Having provided that, there is no bargaining chip left .

The less people know of the nuts & bolts of the deal(s) the more conjectures will be thrown in the air. All I want to say is that Pakistan needs to exercise caution while taking on economic burdens way beyond its known & forecast abilities to repay.

Add to this is the lack of stability, continuity in leadership and decision making & institutional checks as opposed to that in China. I do not consider an Army Officer to be the best man to take long term economic calls.

Good luck .

Indian have masters mentality. They might look US as master we call friendship on equality with mutual respect.

What an we expect from Indians
They just trying to isolate us

I don't blame them. Whoever came to India became their masters...

Are you guys feeling alright? The article has been written by a PAkistani and published by a Pakistani newspaper, nothing to do with India. You guys just don't like hearing a different opinion, even if its from your fellow countrymen.

In the next twenty years I would like India defeated

But in the next forty I want it really strong

Conflicting thoughts for reasons that I will leave to the imagination of those that can think similarly

Man, how much are these dimwits paid to write such crap?!

There is no question that NO project is ever all-good. Could Pakistan have negotiated even better loan agreements, etc.? Sure. But the real question is of long-term benefits --- and auxiliary benefits that come about as a result of a massively revamped and improved infrastructure network across the country (industries like tourism, transport, etc., and also businesses in general). I can't stand it when "analysts" examine CPEC through a narrow lens, as if it exists in a vacuum.

There is no question that CPEC will transform Pakistan into a regional hub.

LOL looks like Indians are more obsessed with CPEC than we are.

Why I love pakistan is because they have the people who can tell truth.

ohhhh is it? We consider US as master? What hell we were doing for so many years till 2010?

Basis of their saying is the history of china and whet they are doing in Pakistan. Many people in paksitan are raising the voice now.

very good question :) what were india doing before 2010?
Russia was the Master and still india is involve with US secretly they cudnt hold it and announce their master and slave relationship after 2010. Russia came to Pak for joint exercise when india is thinking to do surgical strike. tells the whole story of your previous master relationship you cant have 2 masters.

I don't blame them. Whoever came to India became their masters...
Who ever is Powerful become indians Master thats their mentality. even its in their society.

It all started with the Aryans coming from the north. Not only colonized but also demonized the local folks into a permanent underclass and kept all the wealth and privileges for themselves. What a Satanic system of exploitation!!!

Almost all known media outlets in Pakistan have raised questions on CPEC financing.
The problem is not with CPEC.. the project.. but the financing and related conditions..

Maybe the chinese can hand over the project to pakistanis after about 50 years after getting their ROI.

People having new clue or knowledge in this project are in this illusion that Chinese will be taking full control of Gawadar and Pakistan will be sitting like duck just watching their economic activities and getting now fruits from it.............

Pakistan should have negotiated CPEC properly with china. What did you gain? They bring their men, material, capital and took everything back. You have a road on your soil for which you have to pay and not only that but your vehicles will also have pay tax. What is your gain? Inspite, if you had invited open bid you would have hot a much better deal. China needed this road for strategic purpose and you guys should have done a hard bargaining. You should have made them to agree to your own conditions rather than you agree to their terms. I think you guys missed an opportunity which has a very cost to pay.
