Ukraine to Upgrade Pakistani T-80 Tanks: IDEX 2017 News

Pakistan and Ukraine have signed an MOU to enhance defence cooperation and specifically to upgrade Soviet origin T-80 tanks manufactured in Ukraine.

An agreement to this effect was signed at the IDEX 2017 show in Abu Dhabi between Rana Tanveer Hussain, Pak Minister for Defence Production and the Director-General of Ukraine’s Defence Ministry today.

“Both countries have agreed to enhance their defence cooperation concerning research and development and production of Ukrainian origin tanks with the Pakistan Army,” UAE’s WAM news agency, which witnessed the signing ceremony said in a report.

Pakistan has some 330 T-80 UD tanks procured in the late 1990s from Ukraine. It wants to upgrade the tanks with a modern turret, fire control system and improvements to its engine and communication system.

Ukraine had replaced many Russian origin parts in the T-80 tanks meant for Pakistan.

Ukraine is a profitable country especially in terms of Tanks
They are technically advance and it is good to see these two nations cooperating

Replacing will reduce numbers upgrading 330 of these and buying about 320 t84 oplot m will increas numbers signifcantly

MP5 is actually quite potent at short range

I think 2 carry pistols, one carries SMG. but im not sure.

Oplot is this chassis with better armaments electronics and drivetrain so upgrade will bring it to Oplot standards

but in modern era more numbers have no value than more advancement of technology which can deal more numbers easily.

Number does countes 300 tanks can not cover whole area of battlefield with indian border. Remember shortage of equipment halted our offensive in 1965 because have to divert our forces from khemkaran to sialkot. Same applies now if we defence in sialkot and lahore and defences in rahimyar khan and further down in south what we gona left with forces on offence nothing so no offence. Remember offence is best defence. Defenders are all was on the mercey of aggressor

there will be no defense in rahim yar khan.it would be suicidal.we will attack before india.there cold start is all about mobilizing quickly which they lack severely.our panzer attack on jaisalmer will send shick waves to delhi diverting forces from fazilka sector giving breathing space to qasoor sector.
here we bring our reinforcements from multan and stuck the crushing blow.
