Official statistics contradict PM Modi’s claim of more electricity being supplied on Eid than Diwali

In an election rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur yesterday, Narendra Modi suggested that UP Government supplies more electricity during Eid than Diwali. He said, “Ramzan me bijli athi hai tho Diwali me bhi ani chahiye; Bhedbhav nhi hona chahiye (If there is electricity during Ramadan then it must be available during Diwali too; there shouldn’t be any discrimination)”. The PM also said “Gaon me kabristan banta hai to shamshaan bhi banna chahiye (If there is a ‘kabaristaan’ (graveyard), there should be a ‘shamshaan’ (cremation ground) too.”


However, the official stats that have been put forward by some senior journalists such as Rajdeep Sardesai from India Today, Pankaj Jha from ABP News and by the Chairman of All India Power Engineers Federation Shailendra Dubey contradict PM Modi’s claim. These tweets claim that according to official statistics, the power supply on Eid (6 July 2016) was 13,500 MW while the power supply on Diwali (28 Oct to Nov 1, 2016) was 15,400 MW per day with a 24 hours supply on all 5 days. These statistics clearly show that not only was the power supply not deficient on the days of Diwali, but in fact was more than Eid.



Also, even though Uttar Pradesh remains a power deficient state, according to official statistics of UP Power Corporation quoted in a report by Business Standard, the power generation in UP under Akhilesh Government has grown by over 100% from 8500 Mw in 2011-12 to 17,500 Mw in 2016-17 and the power cuts have reduced from 14-16 hours to 6 hours.

It is unfortunate that Narendra Modi resorted to a strategy of communal polarisation while being the Prime of India and having come to power with the slogan “Sabka saath, sabka vikaas”.

In an official report by the Government of India, it has been found out that Akhilesh Yadav government openly discriminated against the Hindus when it came to the electrification of rural households under DDUGJU (Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana), which is central government’s flagship program for electrification of 18,000 villages. The shocking report has revealed that in a shameful display of Muslim appeasement, villages with large Muslim Ghettos were chosen for electrification, while the villages with Hindu population were ignored for electrification.

3. Charging of money from villagers for providing infrastructure and releasing BPL connections.

The report has suggested that an FIR be filed against the contractor responsible for electrification works and punitive actions must be immediately taken. It has also asked the DM of the district to conduct further investigations.

Do you have a credible source apart from a blog? Does the so called committee has any hard data to support their claims? And speaking about the tweets, they are from UP government and the minister from UP Government has substantiated the claim. The below is an excerpt which claims the same.

Team Akhilesh retrieved all the tweets and government orders related to Hindu cremation grounds and power supply during Diwali.

The CM Office’s (GoUP) tweet of February 24, 2015, has resurfaced which announced Rs 100-crore budgetary provision for cremation grounds in rural areas.

A tweet of October last year from the same Twitter handle hash-tagged ‘Deepawali’ spoke about Diwali arrangements in the state regarding “power supply according to proper roster, security, and safety”.

Is there a credible source which authenticates the so-called formal letter from the Chairman and MD of REC? A couple of examples of how authentic the formal letters are from Sanghi photoshop factory.

Blaming and demonizing muslims is one of the favorite occupations of the desh bakhts. Good luck to them before when Muslim sentiment spills over and we decide to take our destiny in our own hands and cut India into pieces like we did before. It is only justice. Indian RAW has been waging war against muslims for decades. They deserve a country like Pakistan breaking them.

We are the sons of lions like my nana who supported Pakistan in 47 and continued doing so. We and Pakistan are one people.

Modi is now talking like Trump. This is the same kind of crap that come out Trump's mouth.
