Rangers to takeover law and order in Punjab

Moohdhi League will never allow it. They are going to be the biggest hurdle in the province like ppp was in sindh. GBQ will have to launch it with or without their approval.

LAHORE: Punjab will seek Rangers’ help in countering terrorists, an apex committee headed by Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif decided on Sunday.

Among the many important decisions taken in the provincial apex committee session, it was decided that relentless operations will be conducted against terrorists and their facilitators.

Those sheltering terrorists and their facilitators will not be spared. All important and not so important workers of banned organisations will be arrested, it was decided in the meeting.

The exact procedure on how to utilise the Rangers’ help in countering terrorists will be laid out later.

CM Shehbaz Sharif, addressing the session, vowed to “root out all terrorists and their facilitators from the Pakistani soil.”

“The entire nation is united on the war against terrorism. These terrorists are a scourge on our home soil, and we will root them out,” the chief minister said.

The civil and military leaders attending the session offered fatiha for the martyrs of the deadly blasts which hit the country over the past week and expressed solidarity with the injured and families of the victims.

The officials also expressed concern on the use of Afghan soil by terrorists to orchestrate attacks in Pakistan.

The session was attended by National Security Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Nasir Janjua, Corps Commander Lahore Lieutenant General Sadiq Ali, Provincial Minister for Anti-Terrorism Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Mohammad Ayub, Director General of Punjab Rangers Major General Azhar Naveed Hayat, GOC 10 Division Major General Sardar Tariq Aman, Chief Secretary, IG Punjab and other civil and military officials.

Finally.
Ok that is why some reports suggested that pmln is gonna lose around 100 seats.

Reality check: They are only taking assistance not handing over the law and order up to rangers. Rangers role will still be very limited.

Will rangers be given the same powers as they do in karachi ?
“The deployment of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, in Karachi is requisitioned under Article 147 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973, and under Clause 1 of Sub-section 3 of Section 4 of Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, authorised to prevent the commission of terrorist acts, or scheduled offences in notified area for the punishment of terrorist in accordance with the provision of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997,”

Or is this merely a lipservice, just to reassure the public ?

Army has started operating in Punjab before the goon decision. Do you think when it comes to national security goon will matter.

Agreed but trust me the authority been given to rangers is enough. Rangers once they come in they will do as they want not as goons want. Let them just be deployed and then there will be a push to get more authority and goon will comply if not IK will be asked to give dharna it is simple.

Don't know the force size but Punjab deployment is for 90 days.

Almost all of the terrorists and their leaders are residing at different safe heaven within Punjab. Everyone knows who is protecting them. Rangers will hunt all of them down and they'll be treated like street dogs. All the politicians and religious scholars supporting terrorist should be killed as well.
