It might have to do with their team bus being attacked a few years ago.

The final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be held in Lahore whether the foreign players agree to come or not, it was decided in a meeting between PSL Chairman Najam Sethi and the five franchise owners.

Earlier it was reported that the franchise owners had showed some reservations over the staging of the final at the Gaddafi Stadium, however, after a meeting with Sethi, all the franchise owners have agreed to play the PSL final in Lahore.

Such decisions should be made with a cool mind and absent of emotion. Risk Assessment, cost benefit and long term implications of success vs failure should be taken into consideration, it's a high stakes gamble and for what? Pride?

Get it right and you prove the pundits wrong, get it wrong and mess up and kiss International cricket bye bye for a further 15 years! Just my humble opinion.

and what left btw the match when Imran Khan (if) Nawaz Sharif COAS watching the live match and entire crowd start chanting "Go Nawaz Go" ? guess what why NS not even attend the PSL ceremony ? Hinted

Too bad they did not opted to play Semi Finals also in Pakistan

Would have easily seen 80,000-100,000 visitors to game depending on max capacity etc in both Semi Final games

i think foreign players will play but its kept secret for now.so that any unnecessary attention is to be avoided

First, the only way for forward is get rid of present PCB & PSL board members they are of no use for the growth of cricket in Pakistan. If some dashing & daring Administrators replaced who know cricket then PCB can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Is anybody stopped PCB from playing in Pakistan ? No. Then what’s the problem in playing in Pakistan - yes I accept foreign players are not coming, but it’s not PCB problem, security situation inside Pakistan is the reason for that and Army & GoP has assured PCB to take care of the situation.

When Army has giving the assurance then what’s the problem to play PSL in Pakistan? – Don’t tell me Modi, Doval, RAW, BCCI doing that. Terrorism is faced by almost every country in different ways but its responsibility of leaders of the country to tackle that and it is not PCB’s job

Even if PSL conducted without foreign players it is still a hit in Pakistan – isn’t it ? If PCB successfully conducts PSL for one year inside Pakistan it’s a big boost of cricket in Pakistan automatically next year foreign countries send teams & players.

A good decision.
It's deliver a clear messages be it Indian Afghans their rats aka terrorists that we are not afraid WE do our usual things.
Let's hope best even one or two international players join the event which make bright impact in future inland cricket.

‘Persuading international players to play PSL final in Lahore’

Shoaib Malik informs international players that he and his wife don’t take travel with security when in Pakistan

SHARJAH: Senior Karachi Kings player Shoaib Malik said on Thursday that he is trying to convince international cricketers playing in his team to play the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) final in Lahore.

The right-handed batsman said, “I don’t take security along with me when I’m home, I even informed the players that my wife is an Indian national, and even she doesn’t take security on her visits to Pakistan.”

Malik reiterated that the authorities must make collective effort to bring cricket back to Pakistan.

“Though I don’t think it’s fair to compare leagues, I think going by the standard of cricket after Big Bash, PSL takes the stand. And by God’s grace it’s getting better day by day,” he said when questioned where PSL stands compared to other international T20 leagues.

He predicted that the PSL would get huge in the coming days but immediately added that there is also a big responsibility on players, media and the people of Pakistan.
