GE Aviation has handed over two F414GEINS6 engines which will eventually power Tejas MKII by 2020. GE Aviation is in process of handing over 6 more F414GEINS6 engines this year alone confirmed GE Aviation to Indian media. In October 2010, the F414INS6 derivative of the F414 was been selected to power the MKII version of India’s HAL Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA). India expects to purchase up to 99 installed engines. F414INS6 delivers 35% more thrust than the original F404, which is used in Tejas MKI and MK1A. GE Aviation has carried out additional modification to the engines to ensure better inflight safety considering LCATejas is a single engined fighter jet. ADA plans to freeze the final design of MKII version by 2019 to being work on first IOC certified aircraft which will take flight by 2020 or early 2021 . work on AirForce and Naval version of MKII version will be carried out simultaneously.

That means rest planning and design is ready for integrating this type of engine with TEJAS jet.

will mk2 be duall engine? jokes apart plz..i saw interview of ........ on aeroindia2k17 saying this

Double engine will make sense for Navy too. Single engine is bit risky to operate on Carrier than twin engine one aircraft engines failure will leads to possible loss of Carrier. Why India want MK2 single engine when they have Tejas mk1A? Seriously? 5 more years for another single engine?

Please check your sentences before posting. Lot of errors so massages are not clear.

Tell this to USN,so that they can run away from f35. Why navy isn't induct tejas is not because of single enge,it's a light short ranged fighter which is not useful for carrier operations.

We should cancel this order and go for kaveri as it is being perfected by french

Navy will prefer twin engine Tejas for Carrier operations. MK2 with single engine is waste of time. Navy need atleast 100 if you are planing to have two large Carrier. Instead of wasting so much years for another single engine jet you could go for MMRCA Tejas development till 2022. Twin engine Tejas will exactly look like EF Jets . . Tejas MK2 can weight with new fighter and mk1A

And did u checked urs???

Of course single engine Carrier fighters will always be a risk. But with F35 there are benefits so taking a risk makes sense. And please don't even think about compare Tejas with F35 . Feels sick

Thanks for pointing out grammatical error, corrected thanks. On topic any Navy or airforce wants the best possible jet, doesn't matter single or double engine. What it asks for is dependability and durability. Having two weaker engine than a good engine is always disadvantages. Just check the New Mig jet engine issues in navy.

Kaveri I feel, won't be ready before 2025.
No use waiting that long and putting our national security at risk.

If you think that I did make comparisons between LCA and f35 on its fighting potential, you better come here after 10 years, only immeture kids will read like this.
