What's new

China Automobile Sector reaches 28 million units sales in 2016, or 14% higher than 2015

You mean comparison after converting LCU to dollar, so perhaps currency manipulation?
The GDP figure cited comes from the World Bank database. I'm not sure how WB collects the data.

My interpretation is:
- China's GDP is indeed underestimated, or the Chinese government is too dishonest.
- The massive scale of the Chinese automobile industry eases the difficulty for an ordinary person to own a car.

In 2016, more than 28 million cars were sold in China, which is the highest in the world.

13.7%, the growth rate is also higher than that of the previous year, better than expected.

Sales of Chinese branded cars increased a lot, and their share of the passenger car market has gone up about 2 percent to 43.2%.

Sales of new-energy cars was a bright spot, it has grown by 53% in 2016.

Supposing there were no car purchase restrictions, more than 29 million cars would be sold in China.:coffee:

The most sold cars in china are foreign brands like Toyota
2016 The most sold cars in China r domestic GreatWall's HAVAL SUV and WuLing MPV, not Toyota ... and the most sold foreign car in China r Germany Volkswagen's Lavida, not Toyota.

China automobile market not as same as India's, don't put fake Indian news here.

2016年度销量出炉,这3款车全中国卖得最好!
In China, Foreign car sale: Volkswagen > Ford > Toyota. The most sales are "Made in China" SUV and MPV.

Right now Chinese focus on domestic automobile building, in the near future China's automobile corporations will sell cars into your home just like today "Made in China" smartphones. Next export from China is "Made in China" cars.

HAHA ... I just tell a truth, in China most middle-class & poor-class like buying "Made in China" cars like domestic SUV & MPV, few middle-class and most rich-class family like buying foreign car, mostly Volkswagen & Ford, rest are Toyota or Honda. Mr Leio is working in BYD AUTO, understand the development of China automobile market.

In China city SUV is more welcomed, in China village MPV is more welcomed ... so both sold more than family sedan. China HAVAL SUV and WuLing MPV welcomed by Chinese folks in city & village, cheaper than foreign same cars ... in the recent three years as far as I know both are the most sold cars in China.

Looking forward to Made in China car industry to capture 75% of home market and become dominant in neighboring countries like India and Vietnam.

Also, China must solidify leadership in global EV technology, manufacturing and market share.

That's what we r doing now, and our purpose ... building another "HuaWei" in automobile industry. I like Ghillie & GreatWall's HAVAL ... both can on behalf of China domestic automobile enterprises.

Point is chinese don't trust Chinese products

Says everything
My Indian friend ... what our Indian friends need now still is more "Made in China" smartphones, don't worry when most Indian family get richer in future and can afford 9,000~10,000 USD new car ... i believe many good quality "Made in China" cars will flood into Indian automobile market ~! :-)

Share of local brands: 43.19%
Japanese brands: 15.55%
Germany brands: 18.50%
American brands: 12.16%

"Chinese trust Chinese products"

BTW, did the super power India add more cars than China as predicted?:p: If I remember correctly, the car sales of India were 3.6 million in 2016 right?

China is the country on 4x vehicle wheels:coffee:

last month 01.25 Mr Leio and family members drived from GuangDong to HaiNan island, at the ship ferry of GuangDong side(徐闻) our car waiting from 6:30 pm to next-day 10:00 am go on board and 12:00 pm reached HaiNan island ... i see thousand Chinese family cars in there waiting for ferryship coming, and total three ferries port between GuangDong and HaiNan, all r 24x hours running at full capacity ! My real personal experience, right now im still in HaiNan island, later fly to ShenZhen.

After Chinese Spring Festival, Chinese traffic jams on the highway from HuNan to GuangDong :D

春节过后,京港澳高速郴州段南下广东的车流,真叫个壮观

China might have more cars. But I'm certain that India had more rickshaws. So we cannot look at transportation from just one angle.

Stop bringing other countries into this thread, especially when their automobile market is insignificant. More so when it doesn't add any value to the discussion.

Friendly reminder: This thread is about China's automobile market.

The trend is promising. Local brands need to continue to innovate and build reliable models with a strong service network and aggressive advertising.

Once the perceptions are changed, the story will be similar to that of mobile sector.

China home market is crowded with many brands, but, that's normal, the US used to have countless brands which later consolidated. In the 2000s, even GM killed many brands competing each other.

An oligopoly or worse monopoly is never good for the consumer and finally for the state. The US oligarchy serves as a warning.
