China investing in Iran $280 billion to $400 billion in Iran, while in Pakistan only $65 billion to $70 billion. While it can invest in Railway and Fiber Internet projects in all over the country..

{Please refrain from anti irani, sectarian and propaganda discussion, but healthy discussion}
Iran has a bigger economy that Pakistan and more potential for China to make money. Oil helps Iran which Pakistan does not have. Iran has a higher and better educated population so those investments will lead to better rate of returns.

China cares about rate of return and Iran offers good investment opportunity for them.

the simple and most obvious reason is our morbid mismanagement, corruption and shortsightedness we are lazy and liars and never accept our shortcomings. we as a nation always have someone else to blame. laziness and dishonesty is hardwired into national conscience. we are expecting China to do everything for us and then pay as on top as well for nothing.

because China believes in protecting its interest. foreign relations and economic ties are not bound by religious and ethnic dislikes. India's is very successful in this regard that both Iran and Saudis prefer it over Pakistan (much to our disdain and heartburn).

China is now becoming publicly vocal due to our shambolic progress towards CPEC. our continued failure to protect Chinese citizens in Pakistan and might lead to a point where china will press on bringing its own military or security forces to provide protection to its citizens or might decide to pack up and go to Iran at our expense.

this criticism will change into their public disdain for us too. Iranians on the other hand have shown themselves to be suborn, single minded hardworking nation that has stood up to Western economic and political embargo for decades, it has faced direct and indirect terrorism at the hand of west and its Arab allies.it continues to stand up to the world with its nationalistic pride and determination. this is enough for China to convince itself that it has an alternative if we Pakistanis do exactly what we always do and disappoint it in the end.
a wise call not to put all eggs in Pakistani basket.

If we include the cost and investment in R&D to make a.bombs, missiles, aircrafts, ships, satellites, etc and then give us or transfer technology, then China has invested a lot more in Pakistan.
On topic: The return to investment in Iran is very high as Iran will export oil in response to investment in construction, rail/roads, defence needs, automobiles, cell phones, electronics, agriculture, etc. Pak has some saturation and there is not so 'lucrative' sectors where investor can take interest.

very valid point there. to me China is hedging for its own interests and we cant blame it.we might see it investing a lot in Afghanistan once Afghan Taliban prove themselves to be able administrators though bringing security and stability to their country.

That is the point. Anyway, we are still be offering connectivity. Also, huge investment in Iran means, Pak cement export, road/rail network will improve. By China siding Iran, I foresee contracts for Pakistan, Iran and China to rebuild Iraq. Pakistan has very good gvt and pvt builders (speciality :P @Imran Khan) which can easily win contract if Iraq neighbours are happy.

1. Iranian leadership is on single page (literally because all you have is a supreme leader dictating things). It's easy to control / deal with one party than multiple parties. In Pashto we say "Ziada qasaabo Kay bech me bhains murdaar ho jati hy". We are suffering from this problem. Every (political) party represent a separate part of the country (PMLN = Punjab, PPP = Sindh, PTI = roughly KPK+ Parts of Baluchistan and Karachi) . Everyone try to get more out of Chinese for themselves and their parties and demographic groups and ultimately what Chinese hear is multiple voices at same time and they are unable to understand our one point agenda.

2. Iran have oil and gas which China needs. China needed to ensure it hold reserves of these for next 20 years use atleast. So China invested in them and will get these for lowest prices.

3. Infrastructure vise Iran is already doing well than Pakistan, it have industrial basis for further built-up. Pakistan even lack a proper uninterepted power supply let alone good connectivity.

4. Iran is doing well in STEM as compare to Pakistan.

if I were to ask: "How much money has China invested in Iran up to now?" would that be anti Iran propaganda? Chinese are not stupid to sink any money anywhere blindly.

OMG! you don't know much about Iran then. son of the current supreme leader alone stole nearly 2 billion dollars, when President Ahmedinijad tried to investigate he was ousted and blacklisted for life from holding office.

PTI rules Punjab and KP. Punjab is the only province directly under Imrans control. Waisay PTI and PMLN are considered Punjabi anp and ptm kpk local parties in Balochistan mqm Karachi and PPP sindh
How is Punjab the only province directly under Imran control ? KP implemented IK's model and you think he have no say in KP government ?

ANP is no more a party, just tell me how many seats they won in 2018 elections, compare that with their seat count in 2013 and than 2008. You will see where ANP is now. PTM was never a political party to begin with. The two seats they have is because PTI supported them on those seats and withdraw their candidates in support of PTM guys.

KP population is not radicalised by a single party and we worship no political party and its leadership but because PTI delivered in previous term hence you see them reelected with even more seats as compare to 2013. So the bottom line is that you can not attach name of any political party with KP saying that KP is the stronghold of this particular political party. Because this thing changes every 5 years in KP.

Have you seen size of Iran VS Pakistan and its geographical location? Also Iran is clearly in anti US camp while Pakistan isn't
North Korea, Venezuela, Russia are also Anti American
Then why only in Iran not in N. Korea, Venezuela?

easy...iran IS IN SHAMBLES! they went through an 8 year war which was soon followed by heavy sanctions. Pakistan has a fast more developed infrastructure as compared to iran except maybe the capital tehran. Plus, a huge chuck of that investment is going to be in the oil and gas sector to increase their throughout to meet the Chinese demands.

1- Business side: Iranian market is a lucrative market for any investor with 80 million people and money to spend. and it is a captive market meaning European, Japan or Koreans are not allowed to do business with Iran due to US imposed sanctions (not the case with Pakistan).

2- Security:..it is OIL, OIL and Gas...Iran has the largest oil and gas reserves combined in the world and these reserves are Independent from US actions..Ideal for an Economical /Military super power like China. Remember that availability of OIl (lots of it!) is the soft belly of china.

3- Political: Having secured Pakistan in south east Asia already they need to secure a middle eastern partner so why not go for the the one next door to Pakistan and spread the wings further ...that is what superpowers do..lol:undecided::undecided:
i totally agree. Iran has oil which Pakistan does not have. So the investment is lucrative. For Pakistan, only investment needed is in infrastructure. So thats where China is investing.
