My guess, Joy, or that angry old bloke that runs Beximco, Salman something, although he's also quite old.

If they carry on with their family dynasty tradition and choose joy, they will probably consider potential blowback. Even though BAL got used to handling protests/riots by now, I think they will eventually be forced to appease the opposition voter-base, and at least pretend not to be a family-run mafia-type organization. If you remember BD politics in the early to mid-2010s, it went full chetonah. I think recently they have begun to simmer down on that chetonah bandwagon, in order to appease the sort of people that vote for the opposition. This is why BAL also gets in bed with some Islamist organizations.

If I was to choose someone from BAL, I think Momen will probably be the least bad option of that rotten gang. I don't know much about that guy, but he is probably okay, least corrupt of the bunch.

I don't see the opposition getting anywhere. Both due to their own utter incompetency and political suicides, but also BAL trickery, character assassinations, smear campaigns, etc. Rightly or wrongly, their image sucks. Their followers have moved into a bunch of conspiracy theorists, religious conservatives, and some folks in East London

I personally couldn't care less unless they DON'T get in the way in the way of development at the very least. I've always maintained, Bangladesh is where it's today, IN SPITE of her governments, not because of them. Though i would concede certain policy decesions in the past that had positive effects, under all successive admins

Of course, there's corruption, which definitely gets in the way of development. But all of Bangladeshi's leaders were corrupt (maybe aside from Z. Rahman?). They are corrupt because we as a people are, unfortunately, corrupt. they don't exactly spawn from a vaccume

Shahriar Alam should be given a bump up the order in the next cabinet so he'll have more ministerial experience and political exposure come 2029..

He's among the most educated, cool-headed and intelligent individuals in BAL.

Bangladesh under someone like him, who knows exactly what they're doing, will be unstoppable, irrespective of the underlying (and unabated) corruption.

succession in monarchies can be bloody, especially with competing heirs to the throne. maybe it is managed properly, it depends.

Bangladesh is a "democracy" same way India is a "secular" state.
how else do you explain how a person became head of the ruling party just because her father founded it. She inherited the right to rule Bangladesh just like in a monarchy.
bad people in Bd say a tug of war is going between Rehana Bibi, Hasina's sister, Joy Kumar, Hasina's son, and Putul Kumari, Hasina's daughter.

Joy "Kingdom of Bangladesh".

But, you have to note one point that political opposition is not willing to strengthen their power. Rather, they want Hasina to take the responsibility of "Borrowing from foreign sources and spending/ stealing lavishly" for unnecessary civil construction projects.

The opposition would not like to be elected and will stay away from taking power. They do not really want to enter into the vacuum of economic dustbin created by the BAL oligarchs.

Last time, I was told it goes through New Delhi.

Just how much of a "telephone government" Hasina, and BAL are?
Bangladeshis hates Indians.

Bangladesh has been in the Chinese pocket for a long time now.

China, Bangladesh sign landmark defence pact

India is not a trustworthy country for BD. India is the hegemonistic country to all its neighbors. Change your mindset and BD people will consider India as a friend, hopefully.

"we as a people are, unfortunately, corrupt"

And this right there is the problem.

Who ever is the next PM, please let them have balls.

Literally.

He is very popular in Bd. He will definitely win by a landslide if there was an option and I'm not kidding.
Yes, it is possible that IK will win in a BD election. Just let Hasina Bibi allow a showcase cricket match in Dhaka Stadium and let IK to captain and play a Batsman in a friendly game.

IK popularity in BD far exceeds that of those political cronies headed by Hasina Bibi. People may forget 1971 and accept IK.

However, a new law should be enacted to make it happen. BD Parliament should allow anyone to contest here if he/ she were born before 1971. IK satisfies that condition.
